Delmon Young being out of the American League is the best thing to happen to the Yankees since Mickey Mantle!

Should make for a fun Home Run Derby, if nothing else.

The thought regarding the 2015 All-Star game is that Selig is punishing Loria for the firesale by not awarding it to Miami. It was all but assumed when Marlins Park opened that we would get it.

A good way for Selig to punish Loria would to get rid of him as an owner.

Ben Revere, playing between Darin Ruf and Delmon Young, could very well be dead by Memorial Day. #phillies #crueltytoCFs

Good.

Yeah, 2015 to Miami seemed a guarantee not that long ago. Loria doesn't deserve any more free money.

As a Pirates fan I'm honestly pissed (in retrospect) we got that 2006 All-Star Game. All it did was pump more money into Bobby Nutting's coffers while it artificially inflated attendance numbers for a brief while so he could afford to field another atrocious team. If I'm not mistaken the Pirates were believed to make a net profit exceeding $30 million that season...and this is the first year that we're actually seeing a real shift upwards in payroll. Without that game fan interest probably would have completely bottomed out and he'd actually have to either a.) invest in the team or b.) sell the team.

Without that All-Star Game maybe Mark Cuban would be the Pirates owner.

According to Heyman, Cards are signing Ronny Cedeno.

He should provide solid MIF depth. Behind Furcal and Descalso/Carpenter.

Johnson batted .345/.525(!)/.548 in AA as a 20 year old. Then after a couple injury ravaged years went .284/.422/.472 as a 24 year old in the show. Throw in the fact that he was a gold glove first baseman and I really thought we were looking at a guaranteed superstar. He just never stayed healthy, had a 149 OPS+ in his only 600 PA season. Real shame. My favorite memory of his was getting played in LF when Giambi was at 1B in interleague games. I think they were in Colorado and someone, possibly Helton, hit a sinking liner the other way and Johnson looked like he had it, but bailed on it at the absolute last second. Like he remembered he was a first baseman at the last possible moment and decided to get his head away from the ball. Turned an out into an extra base hit, but still hilarious.

In other Yankee nostalgia news, they just signed Juan Rivera to a minor league deal with a camp invite. Let's hope he doesn't steal Jeter's glove this time.

A couple years after the incident, Juan came up to bat against the Yankees and Michael Kay went on a five minute rant about how stupid Juan was for stealing his glove. Went on the entirety of his at bat and the rest of the half inning. After they came back from commercial, Kay apologized for his mistake and admitted it was Ruben, but I still find this to be the most hilarious five minutes in the history of baseball.

Yup.

Juan Rivera got lost on the Subway coming to the game one night and then ran into a golf cart chasing flyballs in the outfield that landed him on DL.

Per rotoworld:

According to the Miami New Times, Alex Rodriguez is among the players linked to an anti-aging clinic in Miami which distributed performance-enhancing drugs.
Big news. This clinic, run by Anthony Bosch, was reported over the weekend as being investigated by MLB and the Drug Enforcement Agency. The New Times were given patient records by an anonymous source and they suggest that Rodriguez was given HGH as recently as last year, sometimes under a nickname. Other current MLB players are listed in the report, including Melky Cabrera, Bartolo Colon, Yasmani Grandal, Gio Gonzalez and Nelson Cruz. Of course, Cabrera, Colon and Grandal have all been suspended for PEDs in the past year.
