Bargnani calls Raptors worst team in the league

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/87...worst-team-nba

TORONTO -- Toronto forward-center Andrea Bargnani offered a blunt assessment of the struggling Raptors, telling an Italian newspaper that the club is "pretty much the worst team in the NBA."

...

Seriously, of all the Raptors he's playing the worse basketball of all. I thought the Landry Fields signing was ridiculous and that they put too much in the hands of DeRozan but outside of that guys Lowry, Davis and so on are doing a good job. Bargnani plays crap ball and is dead weight for the team. Can't wait until they move on from that guy. Outside of last year, when he was ok I guess. Other than that he's been an average bench player at best.

IIRC them even getting Landry was something to do with them blocking someone else from getting Nash or something, so I feel bad for him, but Bargnani (terrible as he is) is right. I'd rather watch the Wizards play tbh. The Raptors are the epitome of a gong show, at least WSH has Nene, Beal and Wall. Even with nothing else, that's a solid foundation to build off of. Terrance Ross is the only Raptor I'd pay money to see play.

How much you wanna bet, that the T.O. will find a way to win enough games that they pick 4th, thus losing their 1st round pick to the Thunder.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say there was perhaps some sort of mistranslation/misunderstanding, but either way, it won't be good. Funny that the likes of Derozan and Davis came out to say how good Casey has been for the team, and then you have Primo Pasta talking about how bad the team is. He's regressed terribly this year.

It's actually amazing how far he's regressed, a year ago people were talking All-Star. Anyone remember this?

He should take a look in the mirror. Freaking Bargnani should be the last person calling anybody out.

Toronto is the second worst actually, behind Washington. Bargnani plays like garbage, one night he scores 20, two others he scores 4; a power forward who has an average of four rebounds per game! (and most of the times not even that!) Come on Mago...

That's not too far from the truth. They might not be the worst but they're definitely in the conversation.

One of the reasons they're that bad is because of players like Bargnani. They need to get rid of him as soon as he recovers from his injury.

This was the excerpt from the Italian interview shown in Balll Don't Lie:
http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba...4814--nba.html

Quote:
You got hurt at a bad time, both for the team and personally. What's going on?

Nothing has worked from the beginning of the season. We are pretty much the worst team in the NBA. This summer's moves in the [trade and free-agent] market were made to build a winning team, but we are not winning. We are below all of the expectations. No one is used to playing with anyone. We have won four games: it's a tragic thing. Whatever way you look at it, it is a desperate situation. Since four years ago, we have kept losing. To improve, the only thing we can do is to win, and for now, we have not.

What determines how you evaluate your performance?

It goes hand in hand with that of the team. There are many ups and downs, even if I was averaging 17 to 18 points per game. But I don't care about my individual performance in a situation like this. I could get 50 points and the frustration would be identical. If you're on a team that loses in this way, what you are doing matters only relatively.

Do you feel you are the scapegoat for the situation in Toronto?

This is not the first time I've been criticized [...] it does not affect me even remotely.
I don't really have a problem with anything he said. Coaches are allowed to say the team is bad. GM's are allowed to call the team bad. Bargnani's just telling it like it is.

He didn't say it that way. It was misinterpreted because of the language barrier.

If it wasn't for a John Wall-less Wizards, they would be, so, it's pretty much the truth.

The Raptors dont have that killer instinct

How many 4th quarter leads have they blown this season ?

Someone in this organization needs to step up and give the keys to De Rozan
DeRoazan works hard and has improved, but he is too much of a team player

Softie Bargnani cant be your franchise player

they need to fire Colangelo

And his Italian scout who is specialized in finding soft players

I agree with what he says, but he failed to mention he's part of the reason why...

4 straight wins for the Raptors with Bargnani out of the lineup. How much longer will we be seeing this north of the border?

He's been a disappointment, no question about that, but Ed Davis hasn't been great either. How about Lowry instead? With him out and with Calderon at PG, the Raps have been clearly better.
