Looks like the extension is done:

http://thestar.blogs.com/baseball/20...h-griffin.html

Quote:
As reflected in his hands-on style, Jays' GM Alex Anthopoulos prefers to meet players face-to-face whenever an important crossroads arrives. Anthopoulos is believed to have met with Dickey at his home. Reportedly, the Jays have been able to agree on the extension with Dickey, likely for more than the $26 million, two years, he had been seeking from the Mets, but still a bargain for three years compared to recent free agents Anibal Sanchez, Zack Greinke and, assuming Dickey's higher expected return, than Ryan Dempster.

So R.A. Dickey apparently will earn an average of $10 million a season for the next three years, during seasons he's 38, 39 and 40 years old

2/25, which is actually $1 million less than he was asking from the Mets.

They paid a steep price to get him, but they've made out like bandits on the contract.

Thought he'd get 2 years 30 mill so 5 mill less than I thought. Good deal

Nice contract, still unimpressed with the assets needed to get him.

Syndergaard is at least two years away. It's not that big deal. D'Arnaud is tough loss but you give something to get something.

It's a good trade for both teams. Dickey is an amazing pitcher (I'd take him over Buehrle and Johnson without thinking hard) and gives the Jays a ridiculous lineup of starting pitching. He should give them three more years of, at the minimum, very goodness or even greatness.

Awesome dude, too. Will instantly become a fan favorite.

You have to give to get. The Jays gave up a big price for him, but he is not a rental and is a ****ing CY YOUNG winner. Sandy basically hung up and laughed when he was offered Arencibia and some other minor part, so you can tell that he was going to get back proper value.

The Jays are officially my adopted AL team.

Rest of the AL is laughing at the overpayment the Jays gave. Rightfully so.

Are you done? We get it, you think the jays got the raw end of the deal. Stop repeating yourself.

Very shocked at how affordable the contract is.

The Yanks and Sox should be the last people laughing at overpayments

Ever see those videos where the laughing guy melts down into crying? That's Red Sox fans. Yes, the Jays overpaid.....but the Sox and Yanks are in deep ****.

So happy for the jays, now can someone do something about the raptors?

So what does the rotation look like?

Dickey
Johnson
Buehrle
Romero
Happ

Am I right?

You forgot Morrow. Happ will be in the bullpen.

I'd set it up as follows:

Morrow
JJ
Buehrle
Dickey
Romero

Oh true! Haven't been following the jays for some years now. I think that will change.

I doubt you get a Cy Young pitcher and have him pitch anywhere but at the top.

Dickey
JJ
Buehrle
Morrow
Romero

I'd switch Morrow and Buehrle but that's just me. Dickey at 1, JJ at 2 and Ricky at 5 are givens IMO.

So would I but I don't think you want two consecutive lefties. I think Morrow is more deserving of the #3 spot, but I think you need to break up Buehrle-Romero.
