REMADE: Which defense trio do you build around? #1

Let's consider the first thread I posted a test run..

Taking Ponder's suggestion.. Only 2007 Draftees and beyond. I've also taken everyone else's suggestions into consideration and added some more options.

You're building a team. You're given the option to choose any of these trio of defenseman to build your core around.

Who do you go for? (ignore cap hit for this exercise)

Homer vote but Larsson Merill and Gelinas do indeed have massive amounts of potential. Not many know about Gelinas and I think he will surprise a lot of people in the next few years.

As a Sens fan seeing our trio pretty well right away, I questioned the Capitals as being better then more or less breezed through all the teams... stumbled a little over the Leafs because, while I hate to admit it, I think all of them could be extremely valuable dmen... then finally got to the Coyotes... it was a laborious 30 seconds before I finally was able to cast my vote for the dogs from the dessert.

Chapter two.

The fish spear didn't work.

He stood in the shallows and waited, again and again. The small fish came closer and closer and he lunged time after time but was always too slow. He tried throwing it, jabbing it, everything but flailing with it, and it didn't work. The fish were just too fast.

Yeah I would've voted for this.

This one is tougher, voted for Washington but I can understand taking Phoenix or Ottawa.

washington since they have all 3 guys in the nhl. phoenix and ottawa certainly lead the way with karlsson and OEL but the other four guys are prospects who haven't proven them selves yet, and even if they did i doubt they'd exceed carlson and orlovs level of talent

I would have added Yandle to Phoenix and taken out one of the young guys.

I also would have added Columbus (yes I'm being a homer)
Johnson/Murray/Erixon

Washington has 3 NHLers on that list all with sky high-potential.

Hats off to OP for picking the right 3rd player in Eric Gelinas indeed. This line-up looks
well-rounded on paper.

Phoenix for me. OEL and Gormley are too promising to pass on.

Islanders would include Hamonic and take out Donovan or Dehaan.

It was a tossup between Ottawa and Phoenix for me, went with Ottawa.

I took Washington. Phoenix has question marks in Rundblad. Ottawa with Ceci and little in Cowen who has suffered from injuries. Florida trio is up there but it's not as proven as WSH imo. Not that Orlov is the most sure-fire kid out there but he looked solid last year.

Hamonic is a much better choice than Donovan. I'll do that next poll too.

I'm not sure I agree with sky high, but I'm take 3 solid young NHL defenceman over prospects every day of the week. How often do we hear about sure bet prospects not panning out?

Cowens not a prospect, played the entire year with ottawa. And played top 4 minutes half the year. But anyways I got to go with
Phoenix/st.lous
Ottawa
Washington

The obvious answer would have been PHX or WSH or OTT who already has a Norris winner but I voted for Anaheim just because I think all 3 of those players have great potential. Kind of an unfair listing though. OTT is listed with a Norris winner and WSH's players are already NHLers plus a few more forces giving teams advantages.
