HFBoards Top 30 Left Wingers - #1

Let's make a HFBoards list of the top 30 left wingers in the NHL. Try not to take potential or future into consideration for more than the next year. For reference, here is the HFBoards Top 30 Centers poll done by Reini29.

Why not make it top 30?

That makes more sense...

I know his play has regressed a bit the last couple years, but I still gotta go with Ovi.

Okay, I'll change it to top 30 then. Thanks for the suggestion.

Ovechkin is still number one and it's not close.

Went with Kovy.

Btw... Does Andy McDonald count as a LW, seeing how he wasn't a part of the top 30 centers poll?

He's naturally a center, but has been playing LW for the last 2-3 years in St. Louis (though he still takes a lot of face offs).

If a LW, he should defenitely make the top 20.

Yes, McDonald counts as a LW. I used the list and final voting results from the top 60 forwards poll to decide who to place on here. Players like Landeskog and Filppula had more votes than McDonald, so I placed them ahead of him. I can add McDonald to the next poll.

Not that it matters yet, but you should add Marleau before a lot of these people (ie Brown, Hartnell, Lucic, Pacioretty, Landeskog, etc).

I was thinking of not including Marleau because he is a natural center. It appears that Marleau was not included in the top 30 centers poll either. Should I include him in this one?

i think you should should remove semin. although it has been said that he plays RW so ovechkin doesn't take away his time, it has been years since he was actually a left winger other than small moments

Yeah, he's primarily a LWer now. Who knows what will happen next season, but he was a LW for the last 4.

Thanks, I'll remove him from the next poll. THN lists him as a RW too and I originally had him as a right wing, but a poster on the main forum told me "I'm pretty sure Semin prefers LW."

Ovy and Kovy change the first place between them depending on what kind of day I am having. 5 times a week I say Ovechkin and 3 times it is Kovalchuk. Voted Ovechkin.

(I take Ovechkin twice on Sundays)
Wow, that sounded gay...

Surprise .

Kovy has looked little better to me this year, so it's him. Very close with Ovy, though.

Ovi has still a better career at the moment. But going forward, I'm inclined to trust more Kovalchuk.

Gotta be Ovi. No one else on this list has accomplished even close to what he has, despite a down year from him.

I thought Filppula was a center.
