Det - Nyr

Kindl + two of either Miller/Mursak/Emmerton/Eaves/Andersson/Pulkkinen

Boyle + Saurer

I realize there are a lot of options for the other two guys but though it could make some interesting combinations. If another prospect other then Smith or Nyquist fits better may be something can be adjusted.

Reasoning from a Detroit prospective would be Boyle could fill the 4th line center position or move up as needed. Saurer would be a good stay at home type if he can remain healthy. Plus he's a right handed shot.

I'll leave the Rangers prospective up to somebody that can answer.

From a Rangers prospective they don't want to trade Saurer

I don't like it but then again I haven't given up on Kindl like a lot of the people in Detroit. I don't think the Rangers would do this anyway.

Is Sauer even healthy yet? I thought his career was in doubt.

No reason for the Rangers to do this. Boyle is a valuable 3rd line center who plays huge defensive minutes for us, and the possibility of Sauer bouncing back is more appealing than Kindl is at this point.

This is absolutely brutal for the Rangers.

It's Boyle and Sauer for a who's who of spare parts.

No thanks, Kindl is not even a right-handed shot. Our team needs them just as much as yours.

Boyle has been able to establish himself as a legit 3rd line C for the Rangers. No way they'd do this.

I really wish the Kings had given him more time to succeed. He never used his size to deliver crushing body checks, but he has other tools to be successful. Ah wells, glad he's found a good home.

I agree that a problem with Boyle has been his size. Because he's 6'7" 240 people expect him to put opponents in body bags. He generally doesn't. When he doesn't meet that expectation people look down on his game. It's caused him to become underrated in alot of cases.

But that doesn't mean he's not an effective physical player. He's still good for ~240 hits every year. Who cares how hard they are? They're understated and above all, effective, that's what matters. He's a good checker. You don't need to kill people to be one. He can also be effective as a bully as we saw with Karlsson in the playoffs. Being able to get smaller skills guys off their game is important.

But like you said he doesn't use that moose frame of his to annihilate people and sometimes even Rangers fans call him out because of that. But that's not his game and it doesn't need to be.

The Kings gave him some time, really Boyle improved his stride just an absolute ton with that figure skating class or whatever it was he did. He went from an awful skater to maybe even a little above average. If Boyle doesn't do that, he is Hugh Jessiman, keep in mind his first year in New York wasn't exactly great either, he was really on his last legs probably when he finally broke through.

Carkner got a suspension and Karlsson had 1 point in the series.

If Carkner is laughing he has a strange sense of humor.

I thought Boyle played with noticeably more physicality in the playoffs and was arguably the Rangers best player early in the OTT series.

To the OP, the Rangers believe they are primed for a Cup run and are not going to deal unless there's a true upgrade. I don't think this proposal does that.

From the sound of it Rangers fans don't like it.

And I really don't see why Detroit does it either.

Already loaded down the middle.
