Habs fire sale

The only untouchables are PK, AGally, BGally, Markov, Patches and Price.

Some thoughts....

Pleks to Chicago for Saad

Cole to Boston for 2013 1st

Gionta to Anaheim for Koivu and 2013 1st

Bourque, Tinordi and Boston's 1st for Couturier.

Flame away

1. The Habs are 7-4-1, why is a fire sale necessary?

2. Those proposals are bad. Why trade Cole to our biggest rival? They wouldn't give a 1st for him anyway. Gionta isn't worth a 1st + Saku either, as much as I'd love to see Saku retire in Montreal.

From an outside point of view, the bolded is the only decent one. The others are not so good.

Gionta is too small to play in the Western Conference. He will get destroyed and will more of a liability than anything to Anaheim. Also a first round for Gionta? I didn't know they legalize marijuana in Montreal.

I will say this though I will try to trade Gionta somewhere right now while you can get sometime for him. A decent prospect or a high draft pick will be ideal. Long term it will be the best decision you can make for next season.

If at the deadline Montreal seems to be out of it I will trade Markov and Kabby as well for a good defensemen and draft pick.

It's Montreal!! I mean if they don't win every single game with multiple hat-tricks and shutouts by whomever is playing in nets, trade everyone!!!

Why? Y'all are right in the thick of things. If its one thing I want out of this season its both the Habs and Maple Leafs in the playoffs. I just want the opportunity to play you guys in games that matter.

Not that I think the Habs should be blowing it up right now, but if you were, why not make Markov available? He would fetch the best return out of everyone listed, and at 34 and finally healthy, his value is the highest it's been in a while.. I could see a teams like Philly, Nashville and St Louis paying a premium for him.

They have no chance at all to win anything in the next couple of years, and could build a Stanley Cup contender with their young core+draft picks in the upcoming draft.

I'm guessin you haven't watched much of Gionta, the guy is a goal scoring grinder, for his size, plays very aggressive along the boards, and pretty much most of his goals are in the crease area.

Ask the Isles or Blue Jackets how thats going for them.

They definitely don't need to blow it up in order to build a Stanley Cup contender. Just ship Cole the crybaby out to the highest bidder and build around Galchenyuk, Subban, Tinordi, Beaulieu, Emelin, and Price. That is a STRONG core. Goaltending, top C & D already addressed.

Lol that's a sweet crystal ball you have!

And there's no way we're having a fire sale when we're 7-4-1

But they are going through a rough stretch (even though they did technically win last night).......trade them all!!

I like how the OP trades to a division rival, then trades a prospect the Habs need - a big, strong, defenceman who will clear the front of the net in Tinordi.

Boston won't give up a first for Cole.

Anaheim won't trade Koivu & a first for Gionta.

Huge fan of Saku's but I don't think he's leaving Anaheim for Montreal except for maybe in NHL 13.

I'm guessing you haven't seen the Western Conference play against each other either. Most of the team are really physical to a point that smaller players will likely have a injury or two in the season. Gionta track record with injuries isn't helping his cause either. I admit he is a good player but I doubt he will remain healthy enough to get anything out of him.

What do you want for Eller? Eller to Anaheim 2013!!

Bruce Boudreau has said on the record that Saku Koivu has been their best player thus far, why trade him? Especially for another aging RH shot? Anaheim has to make the playoffs not only for revenue issues, but they've got 2 big guys approaching UFA who likely want too see progress before they sign. Guys factor in money for sure, but the quality of the team is usually pretty important as well.
