Another idea to fix the regular season (once they fix the divisions for travel purposes ie Winnipeg):

All games against division rivals should be done in home-and-home segments. Some second-night-bad-blood built in is always a good thing.

It's another story if they lose the whole season, but I'm soooo ready for hockey to start.
I am.. I just want them to play. I want to go to a game or two and enjoy the season and hopefully a long playoff run.

Agreed.. imagine a thursday night boston vs montreal game and then a saturday night game.. or thursday night game in buffalo and then friday or saturday night game here in boston against the sabres.. would ratchet up the divisional rivalries.

Rask, Thornton, Marchand, McQuaid skated today. With purpose.

Dont sleep on KC

Amazing arena and if NHL beats NBA there that would be good longterm

Ownership group still needs to be assembled fully but that arena is a beauty and the area has potential longterm

Its not same KC metro area economy that lost Kings (NBA) and Scouts (NHL) back in the day

KC would be much healthier try this time around

Pho to QC
KC + Sea as expansion (2 West cities to balance things out)

Makes sense IMO

Speculation Request: Schedule

Let's say a deal gets done within the next two weeks. What does the schedule look like? Since there will be 30+ missing games do they come from divisional match ups? Or could a team like Boston skip their west coast trip(San Jose/Phoenix)?

They've made out a 48 game schedule already, in fact I've read they made out about a half a dozen scenario schedules but look at the schedule that was made in June and any games that are in the conference should stay intact, I did some research analyzing the 82 game schedule for 94/95 compared to the 48 gamer that started January 22nd. It will be compressed as hell and you'll play teams within your division 6 times (3H-3A) and everyother team in the conference twice (H-A). For example, the B's are slated to be at home on 1/21 vs Toronto, look for that one to stay whereas if you had Phoenix or Chicago coming in, that'll get bumped for another team that they have to play. You also gotta consider the availiblity of the Garden too. It'll be different and at times sluggish but all the games will be meaningful which will be exciting

I dropped it because only 1 game a night was in HD. I'm not sure if that changed, but I hope so.

Really? That sucks. On my CI there were only a few games that didn't have HD I think it was mostly FLA games.

Given that each of the other games was being shown in HD in the local region, I shared your frustration. It's inexcusable. I love Centre Ice, but they need to fix that problem immediately. I know there are rights issues, but solve them. Hockey in SD is terrible.

Only having one game in HD a night is the reason why I haven't bought it in the past. It isn't 1995 they need to get their **** together and put every game in HD

Exactly why I dropped it, too. Can't watch ice hockey on a 62" HD screen in lo-D.

Oh yeah, and most of the time that one HD channel didn't even work. Black screen. Nothing.

I think the HD stuff depends on the carrier, not the Center Ice package itself. I get it on DirecTV and every game that's available in HD will air in HD. In the past I had it on Comcast and they didn't show all the games in HD. I think it's just that different cable/satellite providers have different infrastructures and some just don't have the extra HD channels set up that they can broadcast games on. I agree that it's crappy that they still charge the same price for it, but it's the cable provider's fault, not the NHL's.

I have DirecTV as well and all the games on Center Ice were in HD as well. It is based on the provider.

I have no ideal what the cost is to be able to broadcast those games in HD, but I'd think they could make up for it in actual sales of centre ice.

nothing in there about being comprehensive but this can't be bad....

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun
Don Fehr emerged from meeting now. Says NHLPA gave a response and league is now looking that over. Says it's conceivable they may meet again

Agree. I think this is definitely the case. For me, this is all on Comca...um, Xfinity.

Still, not going to drop the bank on this and have only one, partially working HD channel.

It's a bandwidth issue, I think.
