Dude's going to turn out to be a great pick. Love it - compete level, skill, size, grit and determination. With Scheif, Lowry, Little, and Slater, that's not a bad set of C's next year or the year after.

Hopefully after a year, or two, with the IceCaps, Lowry can step into a top 9 role and make an impact. Olli has one more year, so no need to rush Lowry if he's not quite ready.

Nice SH goal in the 1st by St John's tonight - scored by London off a nice feed from Jaffray on a 2 on 1. At the end of the 2nd, it's currently 3-3.

Lowry looks pretty good out there - probably a bit under 50% in the circle. Skating looks decent, even at the AHL level. McCambridge seems to trust him in all situations: d-zone starts, PK, 5v5, etc. He also picked up 2m for Roughing. Nice sell job by the WBS player - Oscar quality.

Should be a good 3rd.

Wow! Lowry broke up a pass back to the point on a PK, hauled the puck into the o-zone, spun, and fed a beaut of a pass to the top of the slot for a nice SH chance. He's getting a ton of PK time - McCambridge obviously trusts his defensive game. Has shown some really good instincts.

He definitely is not having a problem with the more physical nature of the AHL as well. Nice to see.

EDIT: O'Neill scores 11 minutes into the 3rd period, on only the 2nd shot in the 3rd period by the IceCaps. 4-3, with 9 minutes left. Nice feed by Jaffray again.

It will be great to hear a "summary" from McCambridge after Lowry's stint in St. John's is over.

Ugh. Terrible turn-over by the IceCaps with 5m left - side of the slot, WBS buries it.

4-4.

EDIT: Lowry out there to take the opening face-off in OT.
EDIT2: Ugh. Kolarick with the OT winner - hattrick on the night. Final 5-4 WBS. IceCaps drop the final home game.

I'm going to post a few thoughts on players currently of the roster, and how I think they should be handled.

I'll start with #14 Eric O'Dell

56 GP
28 G
25 A
+9 The only player other than Ramsey who is +
24 PIM
9PPG
0 SHG
136 SOG

RFA after this season

By far the best player on the ice. Good at all aspects of the game, had good speed, great hands, good defensively. I am not so sure how well his game translates to the NHL level. I think his size might limit him. Either way he gets qualified and get a look from the Jets next season.

#15 Jason Jaffray

62 GP
15 G
32 A
-4
53 PIM
5 PPG
1 SHG
146 SOG

UFA after this season.
Veteran Player

On many nights this season he was the best player on the ice. He hustles all over the ice on offense and defence, some nights he is a one man PK. He is the team leader. I'd like to see him back as captain next year, and hope he is signed. Whether its a two way or an AHl deal is not so relavent to me. A real class act, who likes the community.

#21 Kael Mouillerat

50 GP
11 G
31 A
-4
32 PIM
5 PPG
1 SHG
141 SOG

AHL contract.

He was picked up in the fall from the Idaho Steelheads late in the fall, and has been great. He is usually on a line with O'Dell and they work well together. He is 25, is 6 foot and 200 pounds. He plays a real good game on both sides of the red line. He has grit to his game, and will tangle with anyone. He basically showed up and earned every minute of his ice time.

When I looked up his size I was surprised to see him listed at 6 foot and 200, he seems smaller. I see him as a really good AHL'er, but wonder if he'd make it at the next level. I'd like to see the Jets give him a 2 way and give him a look in the fall, as he has been that good here. He definitely should get another AHL contract, but I could see another team offering him a 2 way.

#49 Ben Maxwell

71 GP
9 G
25 A
-17
38 PIM
3 PPG
0 SHG
168 SOG

RFA after this year
Veteran Player

I can't say much about his play this season, as he has basically blended into the background. He has played a lot of minutes, and I suppose he has been solid, I dunno. Doesn't seem to be a leader on the ice. There is debate around here on his work ethic, and I keep going back and forth on it.

I think the Jets should be able to sign a veteran on an AHL deal who will bring more to the table than he does.

I won't miss him if he isn't qualified.

Next on the scoring list are;

Mahachek (Gone)
Gagnon (Jets)
Meech (Jets)
Kubalik (new)

I wouldn't mind if the Jets sign either Gagnon, Meech to AHL or two way deals. Gagnon really upped his game in March, and Meech is till the #1 D man in scoring on the team.

Kubalik has been the invisible man in the 8 games since the trade with 2 Assists on 4 shots. I think he wants out of North America.

Maxwell was horrible.I don't think he gave a full effort every night and I hope Zinger sends him packing.

I hope Gagnon does not return.Doing nothing for 5 months does not deserve a contract.

Kubalik had one decent game, not worth keeping.

#48 Carl Klingberg

63 GP
10 G
12 A
-6
48 PIM
4 PPG
0 SHG
128 SHG

One more year under contract.

His main issue is that his effort is inconsistent to the point where he has been riding the pine lately.

When he exerts himself, on the offense he can skate but has hands of cement. He hit an open net the other night and my 11 year old said, "even Klingberg can't miss that one."

Defensively he is average when he is playing to his ability.

If his effort was constant he would be of some value at the AHL level.

Going forward, I doubt we'll have 12 better forwards here next year, if we did, I'd like to see him in Colorado, or stay home in Sweden

Think Burmistrov, with less speed, offensive talent, poorer D, and much less consistent effort.

#26 Maxime Macenauer

65 GP
11 G
10 A
-27 Wow!!
53 PIM
4 PPG
1 SHG
91 SOG

RFA

Last season, the Jets made a few roster moves, they were good to great. Trading Holzaphel for Macenauer made no sense to me then or now.

Holzaphel numbers this season would pit him in the top three here. Macenauer brings very little to the team. Of all the players who are supposedly not working hard here Macenauer is the worst offender IMO. He has been very indifferent in his own end, and is more likely to take a stupid penalty than contribute.

He played better for the Ducks org than he has here, I guess he doesn't want to be here. we should oblige him. Having said that, like Klingberg, he'll still be in the top 12 forwards and be here next season.

I like this kid, and he competes at all times. His offensive numbers are pretty good, but he is easily the weakest D man defensively. In particular, he turns over the puck a ton. I cringe every time he tries to clear the zone.

I have him at the bottom of the defensive depth chart, and I'd guess he isn't qualified, Especially since so many prospects still have time on their ELC's and are better than him

A smallish guy who works. He was one of the workers this season, but his ice time was limited by the lockout and injuries. I don't think his abilities translate at the NHL level, but I think he'd be a solid player here. I'd like to see team qualify him. I think it all comes down to numbers, and how many forwards the team has signed and assigned here. He might be marginal.

I've been doing this by looking at the players based on points. Next would be Postma and Redmond, neither of whom will play here again IMO.
