Having watched the Caps all year long, as many games as I could make. I seriously hope Jaffray gets signed. When this team was in a struggle Jaffray scored some big goals and in an article in the local news paper in Western NL he stated that he'd love to come back. Get it done guys!

He seems like a guy the organization just loves. I'd be surprised if he ended up anywhere else next year.

# 42 Josh Lunden

28 GP

8 A
-2
28 PIM
2 PPG
1 SHG
40 SOG

6 FT, 202 LBS

AHL Contract

Lunden came up from Las Vegas around the holiday, and immediately earned his ice time. For the last couple of months he has played with O'Dell and Mouillerat, fore checking and creating chances for his linemates. He keeps opponents from running #14 and #21, and is great defensively. He gives 100% always. Not an NHL prospect, but a definite asset here. I hope they sign him to an AHL deal for next season.

# 18 Ben Chiarot.

11 A
-7
77 PIM
0 PPG
0 SHG
57 SOG

6' 3"
222 LBS

1 year left on ELC

# 18 is not at the top of the pack when it comes to defensive prospects. Definitely ahead of O'Neill, but not clearly ahead of anyone else. Big kid who hits a lot, but takes poor penalties at times. Fairly fast for his size, works hard, but makes a fair number of mistakes, but not as many as O'Neill.

Since he has one more year on his ELC, I see him being here.

#28 Patrice Cormier

69 PIM
5 PPG
1 SHG
50 Shots

RFA

It's hard to judge Cormier tis season. He was hurt for the first part, and came back at less than 100 percent I am sure. BY February he was on his game, hard working in both ends, tough, and an agitator. He was hurt a couple of weeks ago in a fight when he bopped his head off the ice. He should certainly be qualified, and maybe he gets a shot in the "Peg, but I am concerned that the cumulative injuries are taking a toll.

Veteran Player

Not impressed with him at all. Adequate on defense. Takes too many stupid penalties.

I value veteran players, especially on D, but I'd rank our vets,

Meech > Ramsey >> Arsene.

If we don't get Meech, I'd like the Jets to find a better vet than Arsene

I hope the most of the roster is not back. Most likely this will be the case because of rookies,rfa/ufa players etc.

Have to think Zinger will blow it up.

#22 Ivan Telegin

8 PIM
0 PPG
0 SHG
57 SOG

2 years left on ELC

Telegin has been out for half the season with a concussion, and hasn't played in months. From memory he reminds me of Burmistrov. Fast, hard working, not much hands. He's a big kid, but cou;d bulk up. Don't know that he would play in a manner where size helps. I'm sure he'll be here for the next couple of years, don't know if he'll be a dominant player here, let alone on the Jets.

Next on the points list is Kevin Clark, who was released to play in Europe.

# 44 Julian Melchiori

49 GP

-4 not bad considering how many goals the team has given up, and his minutes
37 PIM
0 PPG

43 SOG

2 years left on ELC

I really like this kid. Since the lock out ended, Melchiori has been getting #1 pairing minutes, and he has lookd good. He's responsible on the D, doesn't cough up the puck as much as Chiarot or especially O'Neill. He hit pretty hard, which should get better if he bulks up. A prototypical stay at home D man. Reminds me of Ramsey, but a shade or more better in all areas. Has really progressed this season. He might make it someday, but should be seasoned one more year for sure.

Had very high hopes for Telegin coming out of juniors but he seems like the type that is always going to have issues staying healthy. I haven't given up on him just yet but I have seriously downgraded my expectations.

# 36 Hunter Tremblay

He was picked up from the Barons before this season. I am sure the team had high hopes for him as he has scored in the past, but he was concussed the whole season basically.

What can you say about a solid stay home AHL level defenseman, who brings it night after night. The team needs him for sure to shore up a young defensive core. Sign him to an AHL contract and I am sure he'll stay, he seems to like playing here.

Probably a good idea to do so.

It was funny coach had Burmistrov, Telegin and Klingberg on a line, talk about all flash and no finish!!

Well I guess we can lower our upside hopes for Telegin from 2nd line scoring winger to bottom 6 scoring winger for now.

... and Klingberg from bottom 6 offensive winger to probably no NHL upside.

Before this season, I would have said:

1. Scheifele
2. Trouba
3. Telegin
4. Machacek
5. Redmond
6. Lowry
7. Sutter
8. Yuen
9. Kosmachuk
10. Olsen

now, for me, it's:

1. Scheifele
2. Trouba
3. Lowry
4. Redmond
5. Telegin
6. Yuen
7. Kosmachuk
8. Olsen
9. Sutter

I can't put JST in here. I just don't know enough about him right now.

For the record: I didn't put Postma or Kulda in here because I don't consider them prospects anymore. Just for wonderings. And no goalies because it's just too much of a blind gamble to place them.

This was a guy who had 27 points in 2011-2012. He is a very hard working forward who is just a bundle of energy all over the ice. He is small, and when he hasn't been out with an injury this season, was playing hurt. He isn't a vet, and may warrant a look by the Caps next season.

#21 Derek Whitmore

played 7 games sporadically in the beginning of the season due to the veteran rule before heading to Germany. Can't say a thing about him.

#5 Jason King

Played 9 games before suffering a concussion. Had a good 2011-2012 season with 22 goals and 19 assists. Not sure if the team should use a veteran slot on him.

Early days on Telegin, one more season should tell. Klingberg, lovable as he is, is a bust IMO

Played most of the season in Colorado. Sol is a big fellow in the mould of Melchiori, except that he is not so good in all areas, except maybe heavy hits and fights. His speed is somewhat limited. I don't see him in the NHL, but might stick at this level. All around he is on par with, or slightly ahead of Chiarot.

Petiot signed half way through the year and really helped the Defense after Postma and Redmond went up. Solid stay at home D man, who got hurt a whilw ago, (Notice a theme)?

It's hard to say much about someone who has played 7 games and had 6 shots. He hasn't looked out of place. Decent speed, awareness, and some good hand. I'd guess he gets a look for the Caps next season. Could end up on the Eagles too.

He has had two looks from the Caps over the last couple of seasons. He had two assists in six games this time. ECHL'er

#3 Patrick Cullity

Picked up from the Columbus organization just before the trade deadline. Not as big as SOL, but probably contributes as well as Sol, or Chiarot does. Better than O'Neill.

With Sol, Melchiori and Chiarot still having time on ELC's and hopefully with a couple of vets around, it might be tough for him to hang on.

He just was aquired from the Stars organization. Agitator forward. He'll get a look from the Caps in the fall I'd guess.

# 9 Matthew Kirzinger

Signed out of Ferris State University. Played two games before he was released. Saw his Mom and Dad in the stands wearing personalized jerseys in the stands. They flew out from Sask to see him play. Felt kinda bad for him.

I know its only 6 games, but after seeing him play 4 games I am impressed. He was tentative the first game, and a little hesitant with the speed of the game. Now, I see a good skater, responsible defensively. Eager to go to the hard areas, not afraid of hitting. Hard to knock off the puck. I think he'll be a gem.

Here I'll risk the wrath of the Jets faithful. I am more impressed with Lowry than I was with Schiefele when he was here last season.
