I'd like to see us swap him with another team that is stacked on LHD prospects. Maybe a bottom pairing LHD guy who is stuck in the system like Cormier is?

If NJD would be interested, something like:

Cormier for Brandon Burlon?

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/brandon_burlon/
I personally never understood the re-signing of Slater with players like Cormier and Gagnon under contract.

Slater is OK at faceoffs, but he isn't phenomenal there and he really doesn't offer much else.

Why not take same / similar production from a player that is making $1MM less per year.

I could see this, more so if the Jets take a Cormier like player in the draft. He seem's to be a a bit of a bust in a sense. But im sure someone would be glad to take a flyer on him, add in Klingburg and maybe the jets could get a B prospect back.

I like all three of these signings for AHL depth leadership and scoring...........

Question for anyone with general CBA knowledge......... Why is Ben Maxwill a Ufa instead of a Rfa when he is only 25 and has just completed his 5 yr of service........... ie) he is not 27 or 7 yrs of service

I would guess he fits a different ufa category min salary and so many AHL games played....... just wondering which category and definition of rule that makes him a UFA

I believe and i'm not 100 percent on this, it has to do with so many NHL games played at a certain age?? My guess is ben doesn't meet the requirements in that regard

27 and 7 years of service is just for NHL players. It's an easy way to remember for key players, but it is not a strict rule like the short hand would indicate. There are many wrinkles in the CBA, particularly with regards to players who are not everyday NHL players. This is due to lack of NHL games played, making Ben Maxwell eligible for UFA status.

Thanks Holden.

that leads to a interesting contract signing this summer........ Redmond cannot play On the Rock this year, due to the fact that he would never pass through waivers (givin the upside he showed last year) ( Unless he played on a conditioning stint). He also turns 25 this July.....and next year will be his 3rd pro season. That would put a lot of emphasis on this summers contract. He would have to play in 72 games this year to prevent him from becoming a UFA at the end of a 1 yr contract. We should sign him to a 2 yr deal........... That way we have 2 years to get him into his 72 games. He would also still be a Rfa at the end of that contract as he would not turn 27 that year until mid July after Free agency opens on July 1. HMMMMMMMMMMM.....

This would be a moot point if there is a provission in the recent Cba that does not count last year as a full year in regards to Group 6 ufa due to the shortened lockout season???

Kichton should be able to step in as the top PP option on the back end. Wonder where Lipon fits in.

All depends on the RFA re-signings really, quite a few were the caps best players, not to mention our #1 tendy is on that list

Melchiori-Ramsey
Chairot-Kichton

I could swear that they announced that Jason Jaffray had already signed a contract with the IceCaps for this upcoming season. Either way, 3 character guys who can score some big goals for the team. We need to foster a good culture for our young'uns to grow up in.

Interesting...
AHL vet 1st line
Scoring prospects on 2nd line
3rd line grit
4th line plugs

1st pair shutdown
2nd pair offense
4th pair plug + ?

EDIT:
Doubt this happens but if Scheif and Trouba start off in the A...

Jaffray-Mouillierat-Lunden
Telegin-Scheifele-Saponari
Klingberg-Lowry-Lipon
Touissant-Cormier-Brassard

Melchiori-Trouba
Chairot-Kichton
Sol-Ramsey

Pasquale
Olkinuora

(could move Lowry to wing and switch Telegin to 3rd line and Lipon to C)

Chevy mentioned in his interview today that they are shopping still for all areas of the organization including depth players which I assume means for St John's.

No surprise with the QO'S,good riddance.

Plenty of minor league players out there for Chevy and Zinger to look at.

The defense will need some bodies it's very depleted.

Great news. Really happy to see Jaffray stays in the fold as I think he's got outstanding character to help lead our development. Mouillierat got his much deserved contract after providing the much needed infusion of offense. Lunden is still pretty much a plug, but the team likes him.

Lunden works hard and has some chemistry with O'Dell and Mouillerat.

Happy he's staying.

Alright, well it seems we got what we all wanted with the signings today, so what can we expect from these guys? Scoring, grit, heaven forbid more guys to sit in the sin bin? I'm liking what I see on paper for these guys young guys who can put the puck in the net

Jerome Samson- 356GP 133G 147A 280P

Andrew Gordon- 350GP 126G 141A 267P

Looking through Gordon's GP it seems like hes going to be the call up for the jets.

So where do you have these two and Albert in the lineup? I'd imagine that Jaff-Moul-Lunden stays as our number 1 line, then these two with one of the rookies/telegin on the 2nd line

At The moment best case line-up for Ice Caps

Telegin--- Schiefele**----Samson
Moullerat---Odell**-----Gordon
Jaffrey---Lowry---King
Klingborg---Cormier**----Lundin
Lipon---Albert---Brassard

Trouba***/ Melchoiri
Chairot/Ramsey
Kitchon/Arsene
Sol/xxxxx

** means unlikly due to Nhl Jets or waiver wire

** odds on Odell 50/50 he makes the jets at training camp----if he does not make it..... it is 50/50 he gets claimed off waivers----at that point it is 50/50 he sticks on the team that claims him 23 man roster all year and may get reclaimed by the Jets......and heads to The Rock

Im hoping he Makes Jets at Camp and contribute s big time...........

D is a bit eeh, but other then that we have a great top 6 that can score and then tons of grit. Pasquale bounces back and the Ice caps will be in contention for the division IMO

Just checked Cap Geek and it seems Chevy and Zinger stepped up with some cash on their recent free agent signings for the Ice Caps

Samsome is on a two way contract but gets a min 200 k on the rock

Gordon is on a two way as well but his min salary is $350 k

I guess Zinger was not kidding when he said the icecaps performance and not making the playoffs was not acceptable...........

Do any ice caps fans here think O'Dell is ready for the big show? He is subject to waivers this year.

Work ethic is there, plays all out all over the ice, good hands. Just not sure it translates at the NHL level. I'd say 50-50.
