Bjorkstrand: Kristian Huselius
Reilly: Justin Schultz
if you had to guess where do they turn out?

like ex Zaar 2nd/3rd line winger

Top end:

Zaar is a top-2 line wing
Anderson is a 3rd line wing
Rychel is a first line wing
Wennberg is a first line center (ala Johansen)
Dano is a 2nd line wing
Bjorkstrand is a top line wing
Reilly is a top pairing defender

Realistic odds:

Zaar is a middle-6 wing that chips in on the scoresheet and plays a responsible two-way game. Similar to Calvert, with less grit.
Anderson is a third/fourth line banger that will be effective on the forecheck and keeps defenders honest.
Rychel lands anywhere in the top-9 and scores 20-30 goals every year, potentially peaking higher.
Wennberg is a second line center that is somewhere below Johansen, but above Dubinsky.
Dano is a third line wing that is dangerous with the puck and plays a heavy game.
Bjorkstrand is a second line wing that scores in the 50-60 point range and is a very valuable secondary threat.
Mike Reilly plays second/third pairing minutes and sees second powerplay unit time. Similar to John Moore in New York.

These are the best outcomes that I honestly think we can hope for. The first list is absolute ceilings if every player develops to their full potential. Likely, neither of these things will happen ... more than one of these players will probably bust and never see time with the Jackets.

For any of them (including Wennberg) to make the team out of camp, they are going to have to displace someone else. And for me, that means someone in the top three lines, because there's no reason having Alex Wennberg, Kerby Rychel, or even Marko Dano, playing fourth line minutes in the NHL instead of key minutes in the AHL. I would be really surprised to see any of these prospects on the roster to start the year, but it is possible that with injuries and other occurrences, that they get called up.

My guess is, one of them gets called up around Christmas and spends the rest of the year with the team. I think it will by Rychel. We have more of a need for a player of his style than any other prospect in the system, IMO ... if he can bring any sort of goal scoring to the NHL level, we'll be in solid shape.

After that:

Zaar: 2015 is hopeful ... he could be ready for a full-time job by then. It all depends on how well he adjusts to the North American game.
Anderson: 2015 is a stretch ... more likely 2016.
Wennberg: 2014 callups, 2015 full-time.
Dano: Same as Wennberg ... he may be the most "ready" prospect in our system, but I would love to see him get some scoring confidence before earning a full-time spot.
Bjorkstrand: 2016 ... hopefully he's kept back until then, at which point he could be a potential Calder candidate. He's a ways away.
Reilly: 2016

Potentially dumb question, but have the Jackets ever tried to get the Cyclones as their ECHL affiliate? Seems like it would be a logical choice and would help marketing the team down in Cincy.

The reasons why this wouldn't work with the AHL and Cleveland have been discussed, but I haven't seen anything on the possibility of affiliating with Cincinnati.

Looks like it will be a split affiliation with Vancouver and either St. Louis or just the Chicago Wolves (difference would be whether players on Blues NHL two-way contracts can be sent there or just guys on Wolves AHL deals).

looks like they're solely affiliated with the Wolves, not St. Louis

Do other teams change ECHL affiliation as much as the CBJ does? It seems like they have a new team every couple of years.

#CBJ extend affiliation agreement with #AHL Springfield through 2015-16, with option for two more years. @TheFalconsAHL

This should end any talk of the Falcons selling to a western NHL team.

I realize that this is more Prospect Thread stuff, but I'm putting it here as a quick reference for Falcons fans wanting to know who is eligible for AHL assignment this season of the eight CHLers in this year's Blue Jackets training camp.

Eligible for assignment to Springfield
Josh Anderson
Mike DiPaolo
Kerby Rychel
Oscar Dansk

Must either play for Jackets or be returned to CHL team
Oliver Bjorkstrand
Nick Moutrey
Blake Siebenaler
Dillon Heatherington

Dillon Hetherington (has played four junior season, but only 1 game in 2010-11, so I don't know if that counts)

Heatherington is not AHL eligible until next year. He will be back in Swift Current, pairing alongside Julius Honka again.

I think at this point, they'll split fairly evenly until one runs away with it.

For what it's worth, Dansk lasted longer in camp. Perhaps that indicates he has the slight edg.

and I read it as "get Forsberg down to work with the guys he'll be behind every night"

I think Springfield is in good hands with those two either way

I agree with this view and even if they are even I dont see how Forsberg doesnt get the first look after last year. But after that its all about playing who looks better

Tough loss for the Falcons tonight in Syracuse. 3-2 final. Unfortunately for them Jonathan Drouin was out there tonight for the Crunch. Nuff said.
