Wotherspoon, Reinhart, Hamilton, Harrington, Ouellet and Reilly have all been pretty decent. Murphy has been the most noteable (for the wrong reasons) of the bunch.
I think I've been his biggest detractor all tournament. I think he's a pylon in the defensive zone. He gets caught chasing his man and is constantly out of position as a result. He can't close down on his man and just tries to stay between him and the goal, and either ends up getting the puck passed through him or shot through him while he screens Subban. He doesn't use his size, having shown no discernible physical game.

He looked bad on the first goal today (tho Murphy looked worse), played pylon on Germany's first goal yesterday, fell down in front against Sweden allowing his man an open net goal, tipped one in and screened Subban on another vs Finland. I think he's been every bit as bad as Murphy defensively, though he's surprisingly contributed more offensively than Spott's boy so far. It might just be me, but I'm really not a fan so far.

The TSN spin on Schiefele's dive was embarrassing. I don't care what team does it, it's pathetic and should be called such, not gushed about as a "great sell".

Agreed. The main board infuriated me. "Diving Euros", "Soft Euros" comments all over the place. Followed by "great sell", "we did it cause you guys do it". Even by one of our fellow mods. Sorry, your (the mod) defense of the comment was pathetic also.

In a game where we are being penalized for clean body checks, I'm not going to complain about a little embellishment here or there in order to force the officials to make a call on the other team.

Not to mention the Canucks get vilified for it, yet web there's a maple leaf on the jersey it's praised. It's a shame Murray got injured this team would be a lot stronger with Murray and Corrado over Murphy and Worherspoon. When is team Canada going to stop laying favorites and stop with this political bs. Subban looks shaky, Dumba only needed one good shift and he would had made it but couldn't and Murphy is attrotious.

Are you referring to me? I don't recall criticising/defending anyone for diving...

Stringer Bell - I see your points. Perhaps I just didn't put Wotherspoon in the same "category of suck" as Murphy, who is on his own level of wetting the bed at the moment. I've been surprised with Wotherspoon's ability to join the rush and make a solid outlet pass, but I can see your point about him being a bit hit and miss in his own zone.

. The "best team Canada can produce" can't win because of the refs? That's pathetic. Canada should be out classing the Slovaks 5v5 every single shift, yet they were being dominated by the Slovaks.

It was one missed call, which the ref apologized for. However, right afterwards you see the ice under the Canadians becoming slightly more slippery.

Alright, then.

Maybe it's just me, but I didn't find anything disagreeable about the officiating other than Camara's ejection. It was pretty evenly called both ways, from where I sat (for better and worse).

You must not be a Canuck supporter then? Seems like some of the Canadian players took a page out of the Sedin's and Kesler's book. Just saying...

You haven't noticed my dislike for Kesler?

I was pretty disappointed with Henriks dive in the Boston? series. However, they (the Sedins) take much more punishment and don't do it very often.

I don't necessarily hate diving. What I do hate is the Canadian homerism. Ray Ferraro calling Schiefles dive, "a heady play selling the call" is a disgrace while calling out other countries players dives.

I don't know what you guys are complaining about regarding the diving. I agree with Ferraro 100% If we are going to be penalized for legal hits under IIHF rules, then we sure as hell better adapt to those same rules. Do I want diving out of the game? YES! Is that going to happen by the end of this tournament? NO! If it's a question of, 'Do I want a Gold medal from diving or a Silver medal from clean play' then it's a no-brainer. I look back to the Summit Series in 1972 with Bobby Clarke's slash to Kharlamov that was responsible for Canada winning the Summit Series. Well that is 1000X worse than a dive. And that Series is regarded as the defining moment of Canadian hockey, and to some, Bobby Clarke is considered a hero.

Until the IIHF and NHL make a concerted effort to take diving out of the game, diving will take place by every team. Canada included.

It's also a drain on Canadian hockey that won't go away. What's the first that comes up when that series is mentioned? Exactly.

I'd say the Josef Kompalla did his best to balance the scales.

Does anyone know where Dano is projected to go in the draft?

Couldn't take my eyes off him all game. Looks like a left hand shooting Hodgson.

I believe he is generally ranked out side of the 1st round. I do believe that was previously expected to be a 1st round player, but for some reason unknown to me, he has been falling. This tournament could change that though.

Interesting. I was surprised not to see him in Craig Button's top 75 draft eligible prospects list.

Dano's game just looks so well suited to the NHL. Gritty, fearless, strong on the puck, good skater, see's the ice well and a hard shot. Don't think he's going to be drafted on day 2...

5 points in 26 games in the KHL at his age is also impressive. Don't really know why he's tanking after (according to all reports) showing well in a very tough league.

At least when he falls down it's accidental. Unlike Scheifele.

Is his stock really tanking?

He just screams 1st rd pick to me. Reminded me of Hodgson but Sven Baertschi might be a closer comparison. Skilled, fearless and competetive...

I just did a check. He's not ranked by most scouting services except THW who has him in the mid 3rd round. Central scouting also only has him as 7th among 'Russian' players.

There will be a Tatar effect after this tourney. Played well against the Canadians/Russians usually has a positive impact on your draft.

JC Lipon isn't among Spott's favorite players. According to Mark Masters on Twitter, Lipon said that Spott told him "it's hard to trust you" and that he has fallen down the depth chart.

I don't particularly disagree either - apart from his ejections in both exhibition and tournament games, Lipon has done sweet diddly.
