What a fun sesquicentennial celebration idea.

(And NHL 100th, Sens 25th)

Interesting idea. Would think the Leafs would want an outdoor game that year as well for thier 100th.

Well if there is a lost season this year, why not 2 outdoor games to make up for it

In 2017 they'll have the brand new Lansdowne, that would be my guess

Sounds like a decent enough Heritage Classic idea. I'd likely watch.

Assuming that the lockout ends by then, of course.

And Winnipeg at Hamilton in Pan AM Stadium.

Does anyone think the NHL would ever do an entire day of outdoor games?

If this doesn't increase revenue nothing will.

They've already been pushing for it. I doubt the league would grant both requests, so it'll be interesting to see who wins out. I think the Leafs have an edge, since celebrating a century of the Leafs' existence would be a higher priority for the NHL than celebrating 150 years of a country's existence, not to mention that they can't play the game on July 1, what with free agency and all . Also, the league could award Toronto the game and they could wrap in 150th birthday celebrations into the proceedings, so there's really no reason to give it to Ottawa over Toronto, I'm sorry to say.

They could put Toronto and Montreal in an 100th anniversary themed, O6 winter classic and then have the Ottawa v another Canadian team as the Heritage Classic.

Good idea to start pushing for 2017 now... we might actually be playing regular season hockey again by then.

That was the rumour floating around at last years outdoor game. That they were thinking of expanding it to multiple games.

Hockey day in Canada for Canada's 150th could feature all outdoor games.

Leafs at Sens
Oilers at Flames
Canucks at Jets
Nordiques at Habs

Except that Toronto doesn't have a decent venue for a large outdoor game. BMO Field is way to small and not well located. The SkyDome doesn't count. Ottawa can play at Landsdowne, with a bunch of auxiliary stuff happening basically right next door on the canal.

Lansdowne Park is only going to hold 24,000; BMO Field's capacity is 28,000. If BMO Field is too small, than Lansdowne is off the list too.

It's also the 100th anniversary of the first NHL game Senators vs Canadiens.

Did you just list 28,000 at BMO? and then 24,000 at Lansdowne? lol... Why did you magically add 6000 to BMO's capacity?
Is that supposed to be BMO's capacity with temp seating for special events? If so... why are you only doing that for BMO's capacity since Lansdowne was designed have temp seating to 40.000+ for Grey cups?

Technically, it was the 'co-first' game.

Two games were played concurrently: Ottawa vs. the Canadiens and Toronto vs. the Wanderers.

Yes, very odd indeed.

Lansdowne will be a spectacular setting for an outdoor game.

This should be a shoe in for the sens to land. But it will be very interesting if qc gets a team by then (anyone know when their arena is gonna be completes. I think theirs a good chance we could have a ott-tor in Lansdowne and mtl vs qc
