people are making to big a deal outta that considering it was his 3rd game in 3 nights and it was one game. Mackinnon has played mostly wing in these two exhibition games and has been the 2nd best forward behind RNH imo.

Pick any 6 of these forwards: RNH, Huberdeau, Scheifele, MacKinnon, Drouin, Strome, Rattie. It's not hard to see why Spott has a tough time fitting everyone in, especially when this team is shorthanded the entire game.

Well, the effort was there but any kind of organization still seems to be lacking. This Canadian team should not be anywhere near outchanced by that Swedish team. Anyway, I agree with the sentiment in this thread that MacKinnon is severely under utilized. He looked like one of the best players out there and seemed to care more than anyone else. I'm not worried about Hubereau at all, it's been a long time since he played anything resembling meaningful hockey. I liked Jenner's game a lot today, until the unfortunate late hit. The penalties need to be taken care of. The coaching staff needs to drill that into their heads.

Yeah strange choice there, thought Collberg was a lock. Arvidsson is not your typical shootout-guy either.

Besides of course plowing into the goalie and not allowing him to make the save?

Who?!

Craig Billington was the starting goalie for Canada in the '85 edition of this tournament, he is now 46 years old.

The current goalie is Jordan Binnington.

Reminds me of those spin moves guys use a lot in the shootout where their ass generally ends up in the goalies face by the time he shoots. Always found them pretty cheesey, and this one too.

SimplySensational are you trying to make up a new rule, you do realize that the crease rule from open play does not apply to a shootout right?

lol

Just a thought but why hasn't Drouin-Mackinnon-Huberdeau been tried?

Russia couldn't even touch the puck when that line was on the ice.

1. Spott tried to force a connection with the three veteran players.
2. Spott barely tried MacKinnon, period.

I agree with the idea they each get one of the first two and go from there.
What gave Subban the number one position coming into this tournament? Was it his play during the series with Russia in the summer? If things were based on the final camp and the first exhibition game you would think he is lucky to even have made the team. Shouldn't the top position go to the guy who is hot at tourney time?

when i look at the stats sheet, two things seem mind boggling
1. How come Hamilton take 11 shots on goal while taking 4 PIM as a defenseman
2. Drouin with 6 shots on goal, picks up a goal, +1 in 12 mins, whereas our superstars RNH, Scheifele and Huberdeau have 12 combined in about 66 mins combined ???

I don't understand this attitude. The past two games don't count for anything. Do you think they're just sending them over the boards willy nilly.? There is a purpose to what they are doing. We may not understand it but we're not on the inside we don't know the plan.
