I'm in the same boat, can't shake this cold at all but my terrible sinus problems probably aren't helping. I actually just had my first experience with a neti pot today. Feels weird at first but it does help. Otherwise I'm pounding Emergen-C like I'm going on a vitamin bender.

Want free music? My old band put all our stuff on Bandcamp for free. Maybe there's a half dozen decent songs between the two albums.

I like the first three tracks off "Train Ride" and on "Redshift" I like tracks 1,2,6,9, and 10.

Bah, you guys are sick too? I was just getting over a cold I'd had for a week and a half and now I'm sick again. Ears plugged, big time stuffy nose, headaches, etc. A good old fashioned head cold, and worse than the one I had a week ago.

Me too. My ears haven't completely plugged up yet but they're getting close. I'm still able to pop em' if I try hard but they'll probably be full on plugged by tomorrow morning.

I went to the doctor last week and he put me on a 5 day azithromycin (sp?) treatment. It's helped considerably.

Yeah, my nose is so stuffed that my sense of smell is gone. I just got done eating a couple slices of garlic bread before I realized it was garlic bread. I hate the smell of garlic bread and couldn't tell the difference.

Welcome to my world. I have not had a sense of smell since I was a child.

Try some tapioca pudding.

Does anything seem appetizing while it's cooking?

Tapioca pudding? Is that some sort of funky home remedy?

Well if it's giving off a lot of steam as it cooks and I'm nearby, I can sense that. So...kinda? But like, I have not had one of those cartoonish moments where I'm grabbed by a certain smell since I was a kid.

The sound of something frying up or boiling in the kitchen makes me remember a few smells from my childhood at times...so...almost?

It really is a pain in the ass to be without a sense of smell.

It also means I can never live anywhere that has gas powered anything, for safety reasons.

No. But in my opinion it's the only pudding that "tastes" really good without a sense of smell to provide the actual taste of it.

See what everyone thinks of as taste is really the foods aroma. When your nose is too plugged up or just plain doesnt work, you don't get that from food anymore. So without that, that just leaves the basic tastebud tastes (sweet, salty, bitter, savory, sour), and the foods texture.

That's why I like tapioca pudding. It's the only pudding that has a really distinctive texture compared to everything else.

It's also why I can't stand beer or unsweetened coffee. Without the ability to smell it and get the actual flavor, all I taste is the bitterness of it. So I drink mixed drinks or sweetened iced coffee, because I can actually enjoy those.

Okay, it's 12:03. I was told that 2013 was going to be different from 2012. Doesn't feel different.

I'm suing for false advertisement!

Every year holidays like Christmas and New Years have less and less meaning to me. New Years Eve felt no different than any ordinary day to me this year.
