Different questions, but it's Rask for now and the future.

Lets see Rask play on a non-defensive-powerhouse.

Even.

I'll say Rask, but I won't say AINEC. Rask hasn't been a starter for more than a season yet.

Pavelec has played for one the worst defensive teams in the league in the Thrash and Jets for how many years now? His whole career. Put Pavelec on a team that's better and he would look much more legit. I wouldn't mind him on the Devils if Brodeur had retired.

^ Agreed. It's a little early to start AINECing this.

That's how I feel. I think Pavelec is pretty underrated. I still take Rask over him but I wouldn't say AINEC yet.

Rask is better, but pavelec doesn't get enough credit on hf. He's a very good goalie. Not to mention his consistency on a not so great defensive team

Same thoughts exactly. And as a devils fan, I would like to see a quality underrated goalie like pavelec in New Jersey as well. Doesn't get nearly as much credit as he should

IMO he's not any better than Dubnyk. Both are very unproven No. 1 goaltenders with similar statistics (slight edge to Dubnyk in that department) and who are about the same age (slight edge to Pavelec in this department).
As someone who watches both a whole lot, I can tell you the big difference between the two is the way they play. Pavelec relies on athleticism and gives up a lot of goals (and makes a lot of highlight reel saves) because of bad positioning.
Dubnyk on the other hand, leans on his size and positioning to play in net, but has a tendency to give up a lot of softies because of his slightly below average reflexes.

Anyway you cut it, this should be Rask AINEC.

Jets fan voting Rask. Pavelec is usually underrated and has potential to become a solid #1 but right now is too inconsistent. If he can change that it'll be close.

Rask is better now but who's better going forward is where the debate can be had.
