Mariners sign Raul Ibanez.

The Mariners and Raul Ibanez have agreed to a contract, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (on Twitter). Terms are unknown. The ACES client played in Seattle from 1996-2000 and 2004-2008.

Ibanez was a pretty decent bench player, but I'm sure the media will gush over how the Yankees are screwed since they lost him. Of course, basing this entirely off of an unsustainable postseason streak where he crushed every ball in sight.

Yankees are pretty asleep at the wheel this offseason.

Congrats to Raul on the deal, he'll always be a postseason hero to me

That being said, I liked Raul, but I don't think it's a huge loss. The Yankees need to work on getting younger and it's gonna be nice for Raul to call it a career with the team he came up with and spent so much time with. It's best for both parties.

It's pretty clear that the Yankees are beginning to scale back on throwing money up against the wall til it sticks. Let's wait to see how it works before we call them out. This could give Nunez a shot at DH full time.

This is what, like his 9th stint in Seattle?

He was literally the only reason New York got past Baltimore in the playoffs

Now that Raul has done his requisite duty of M's legacy-ruining in pinstripes, Seattle gets him back. Thanks Yanks, maybe we can trade for Ichiro too
