NHL players are boring compared to NFL or NBA players

If you say anything remotely interesting outside of the normal cliches, the media has a frenzy and you become a player with "character issues".

You people complaining about how cliche'd interviews have become is become a cliche itself.

At least Scheifele is using "y'know" now. Normally, the only thing he does is whine about the reffing.

Hockey players aren't the sharpest tools in the box, you know? Who knew, you know.

To the Canadian media, having a character is an issue.

Thats the other thing.

These are hockey players, which should basically tell you all you need to know right there.

"Why isn't this hockey player intellectually stimulating to listen to? Hurr Durr"!?!?!?

Yup, you know there's a problem in the hockey culture when kids are looked down up for celebrating too much. Other team whines when you celebrate big time? Don't let them score then. If a player celebrating winds up a team by celebrating, then he should do it more often. 'zomgz, act like you've scored before! inhibit all of that emotion and look as glum as possible because that is healthy for you'. idiots.

late hit that shows no respect for another player and injures him? ohhhh, he shouldn't have been looking at his pass!

guy celebrates too much? ZOMGZ WTF is wrong with him?! DOESNT belong in the game!

I was watching this clip on hockey network about some legendary coach (toe blake?) saying that predictions are for gypsies. In the modern world saying anything interesting on a mike is the stupidest thing to do unless you are paid to do jt

Do you Euro players juggle and do acrobatics in their interviews?

Is it just me or do these canadian players lack personality?

All they can say is "you know"... Huh I mean its painfull to watch for me, anyone share the same feeling?

Watching these player interviews i feel like they all answear excactly the same way, they are like robots.

So is the "hockey Canada" about making players machines or are the just not the sharpest tools in the box, or is this their so called media training all about this? Seems a bit funny and unprofessional?
Maybe a few of these elite level athletes should come on here and complain about the dull pathetic lives of posters who find endless reasons to complain about **** that is really none of their concern.

It's not like it's just the Canadian players... Alexander Barkov for example has the personality of a cardbox.

It's pretty easy sit in your basement and rip on a 19 year old kid doing an interview that a million people will watch. Personally, I would be extremely nervous if I was in that situation, but I'm sure you would be a regular Ilya Bryzgalov on national television.

This is also true, they interviewed him during the game against USA and I just laughed about stoic he was. Never thought to come on HF Boards and question the tactics of the Finnish hockey federation and how they're training players but I'm not the OP of this thread.

Yup, Canadians don't shoot off at the mouth and act like jackholes, what a bad thing.

This is hockey, not the WWE.

Yep

It's amazing the number of stand-up comedians there is in this thread. I'm sure if you were to shove HF posters in front of a camera, on national TV, we would just get brilliant banter and an endless string of zingers.

For the players, it's probably just a chore they're trying to get through without embarrassing themselves. It's not really shocking that their personality doesn't shine under these conditions.

Ovechkin and Daniil Markov are hilarious. Slava Kozlov and Alex Svitov are the most boring robots ever created in a lab.

Yeah, Ossi Vaananen is a great interview. Really funny guy. The vast majority of his fellow countrymen are incredibly dull and make for TERRIBLE interviews.

This is cherry picking at It's worst.

It doesnt matter what country you are from. Some people have interesting personalities and some people prefer to hide behind cliches. This is a truth that has no rules about nationality. It crosses all borders.

Frankly, it is also common sense and if you don't understand it, you are probably somebody with a crappy personality that sucks, and you'd likely be an awful interview.
Pretty much all that needs to be said here.
