Don't forget that Kopitar is just 25. It's hard to compare peaks when it's completely possible Kopitar has yet to hit his.

Equal defensively but Kopitar is more dynamic.

You need to compare someone of similar age/production.

Youth is playing a big role in all these votes.

I mean Zetts in his prime was awesome, but the guy is getting older.

Right now I'll say Zetterberg, but it's close. I see both guys as guys who will hover around a point per game, I just think Zetterberg is slightly better defensively. I can see someone picking Kopitar though given that he's approaching his prime and Zetterberg is possibly past it, it's entirely possible that Kopitar is the better player as soon as next season.

If the Kings had lost in the 2nd round, everyone would be saying "Zetterberg AINEC".

And if the Pens won in 2008 - hell, even if the powers at be gave playoff MVP to Lidstrom - Zetterberg wouldn't have a Smythe, and we'd be hearing about how he wasn't even the best defensive forward on his team because Datsyuk has three Selkes. And if your aunt was a man, she'd be your uncle.

I'll stick for Zetterberg for 1 year also.

Had a slight off year last year with 69 points but had 80 in 80 before that.

And 62 in the last 64 games this season. Just had a rough start to the year last season.

He's not the best defensive forward on his team...

Kind of surprised by the results so far.

Yeah other than a bad month-and-a-half to begin the season, Zetterberg was basically on a PPG pace. In fact, in the second half Z was arguably the 2nd best forward in the league outside of Malkin.

That's pretty arguable. Zetterberg has always been basically on par with Datsyuk defensively but isn't given the same credit because it isn't as noticable.

Hank is definitely past his prime but he's still near where he was back then. His skating has slowed and isn't scoring as many goals due to playing center instead of on the wing.

Zetterberg would be winning this poll easily if this was before the 2012 playoffs. Oh well, Kopitar is HF's flavor of the month, but instead of a month, it's lasted half a year because we haven't seen any hockey for a while

If the playoff powers had made Detroit win 2009, Zetterberg would have got a second smythe.

Right now?

Zetterberg in Swiss 18 games - 29 points
Kopitar in Swedish second league 27 games - 29 points

One can question the quality of the swiss league tho

So Zetterberg has an "off year" by his standards, where he finishes a whopping 7 points below Kopitar, who had one of his best seasons, by his standards.

Not really seeing the logic here...

Zetterberg wasn't as good this year defensively, but I'd still put him over Kopi offensively. He slumped pretty hard for the first two months of the season.

You're doing it wrong. You're supposed to use HF logic.
