After a few listens I can say that James Blake's Overgrown is easily my favorite album of the year so far, though nothing else had really caught my attention yet. I don't think it'll quite live up to his self-titled debut, but it's still a very good album in its own right.

This is probably one of the best songs I've heard that has a dark mood to it. I have high hopes for this album.
I enjoyed that, quite depressing though, song and video

In love with this album. Very Nirvana-ish.

Been listening to (and enjoying) Broadheds today. Has a light "Sublime" quality.

I know it's not an album, but that song the Hold Steady did for Game of Thrones is awesome!

Also, the National had a great song on it last season too.

Off With Their Heads "Home" is my favorite of the year so far. The biggest disappointment is The Strokes new album. I love that band but that is one awful & unlistenable record.

Relatively new band from West VA: Rozwell Kid

New Record is called Unmacho...here's a video of the single. Great band for those that enjoyed Blue Album/Pinkerton Weezer. Top 5 Album this year for me so far.

Foals - Holy Fire
Frightened Rabbit - Pedestrian Verse
Wildlife - ...On the Heart
Hollerado - White Paint

My top four so far in no particular order. Generationals - Heza, and Youth Lagoon - Wondrous Bughouse are both pretty solid.

Still waiting on:

April 30. Daughter
May 14 The Boxer Rebellion
May 20. The National
June 28. Big Scary
"Late 2013" Jungle Giants
?????? Black Keys
?????? Tokyo Police Club
?????? Arcade Fire
?????? Arctic Monkeys

Cool to see all of these mentioned. Off With Their Heads is irresistibly catchy when you first listen to it, but it gets old faster than anything I've ever listened to. I think the main reason for that is how terrible the lyrics are. Every song repeats the same tired themes without any hint of cleverness. Like the Thermals' and really like the Waxahatchee album so far. Bad Religion's new album is also pretty good, although it's the same old story.

2013 looks like a solid year for new albums, but I'm personally most looking forward to the new one from Elway.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club for me so far. Followed by The Joy Formidable.

Will probably get beaten out by The National or Arctic Monkeys or Franz Ferdinand. Tokyo Police Club make avg albums so I don't expect much there.

I'm liking it so far. It's certainly not WAP and anyone expecting it to be might be disappointed, but it's still a solid album.

+1. This is a great album. I know they were trying to do something different than Wolfgang, but its still so essentially Phoenix. I love it. Can't wait to see them tour this.

Plus, I don't think any of the bands I particularly like came out with anything this year, so I just didn't have anything to start it up.
it's not just you. I think I've been like that for the last 4-5 years. It's not that I don't like looking for that next good album, but having to look through album after album after album after....you get the idea. With the last few years being somewhat disappointing (in my opinion), finding new stuff is now secondary.

Actually I probably find more new music in threads like this than through my own surfing anymore.

Been listening to Atoms For Peace - Amok, a lot again lately... it's a sleeper album, really creeps up on you after a few rotations, Amok has to be one of the best songs of the year, Unless, Dropped, Judge Jury Executioner are all some standout tracks...

Holy Fire has gotten a lot of plays so far and Flume lasted me about 2 weeks...

Burial's Truant EP is a work of art as well, that man is a genius...

Okay well I'll bump it again. Finally got Bankrupt!, people saying its not WAP but that's like comparing apples to oranges. Although one track that reminded me of WAP and their signature style was the title track "Bankrupt!", kind of like Love Like A Sunset. Phenomenal song and there are 1 or 2 other great ones upon first listen.

Another highly enjoyable album which not maybe people are talking about is Dido - Girl Who Got Away. Her voice is amazing.

I beg to differ. I know what you mean, but the reason I love OWTH is how brutally honest Ryan's lyrics are. He says what most do not have the courage to admit about themselves.

I suppose, but that's all they have going for them, and still they focus on the same like three pretty exhausted themes. I don't have anything against him/the band; I've just found them a little disappointing, and I think the lyrics are why I can't be more interested.

In terms of that honesty:

Blake Schwarzenbach: "Read and I felt so small / Some words keep speaking / When you close the book / Drank and just about smiled / Then I remembered us in that bed"
OWTH: "I'm a loser wah wah I'm crying wah"

Totally kidding, but you know what I mean.

Laura Stevenson's new album is awesome. I've only listened to it a couple of times, but I definitely think it outdoes her last one.
