After a few listens, this is going to be one of my top albums of the year: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_Your_Mind_%28album%29

Can hear the whole album here: http://www.npr.org/2013/10/27/240593...free-your-mind

Other standouts for me include Chvrches, Arcade Fire, My Bloody Valentine, Savages and Neko Case.

There are some others but those are the key jams I can think of right now.
best live show out there right now is diarrhea planet so everybody knows.

Oh and actually I was never a big fan even though she is insanely talented but that new Anna Calvi is something else. Reminds me of Fiona Apple who I don't like, but better.

Glad you mentioned this... I missed it but am going to have a listen soon. I like most of her stuff.

After listening to Cut Copy at work for like the last two days straight, I think it is my favorite album of the year. Of course, I'm sure pitchfork will review it at like 6.8 and everyone will say it's only mediocre.

I'm one of those guys where when picking album of the year, I'm only choosing between the 5-6 albums that I tried that year.

For what it's worth, though, I liked Tomorrow's Harvest alot more than Reflektor.

Griz's new album 'Rebel Era' came out a few weeks ago and it is excellent. His earlier 2013 album 'Mad Liberation' is already high on my list, and Rebel Era may top it.

Still listening to Reflektor, haven't heard it enough to rate it yet.

My rankings as of now:

1. Rituals - Fenech-Soler
2. When the Night - St. Lucia
3. The Bones of What You Believe - CHVRCHES
4. Bankrupt! - Phoenix
5. A Color Map of the Sun - Pretty Lights
6. Cave Rave - Crystal Fighters
7. Rebel Era - GRiZ
8. Mad Liberation - GRiZ
9. Long Live A$AP - A$AP Rocky
10. Settle - Disclosure
11. Vessel - Twenty One Pilots
12. Young Sinatra 3 (Welcome to Forever) - Logic
13. Random Access Memories - Daft Punk
14. Yeezus - Kanye West
15. Secondhand Rapture - MS MR
16. Evil Friends - Portugal. The Man

The reason I have 16 ranked is I believe they should all be on the list someway or somehow. I will probably write up a top 20 ranking with possibly a few HMs at the end of the year.

Just in case I needed another reason to love CHVRCHES, the lead singer dressed up as a Jawa for Halloween.

I listened to it a few times again today and I think it might be my #1 album of the year right now. It is absolutely fantastic.

Also: Mat Zo's album "Damage Control" came out yesterday and it is really good. I will probably place it somewhere on my list next week, along with Arcade Fire's "Reflektor"

Blood Ceremony's The Eldritch Dark has surpassed every album I've heard so far, expect Tuuttimörkö's On totta. Wow, pretty incredible stuff, great song-writing. Like a mix of Black Sabbath and Jethro Tull. Excellent stuff.

Mutual Benefit- Love's Crushing Diamond

A quiet album that will likely, but shouldn't, slip under the radar. It's only 7 songs, but each song is spectacular. I'd compare it to early Sufjan Stevens, Devandra Banhart (whatever happened to this guy?), Sparklehorse.

Definitely worth checking out. Will likely make my top 10.

not sure if anyone's into Death Grips here, but they released a new album yesterday. It's free just like the previous one.

Need to give it a listen, liked The Money Store.

Right now it's still probably Nothing Was The Same - Drake for me. Marshall Mathers LP 2 - Eminem and The Gifted - Wale are right behind it.

J. Cole - Born Sinner just below those 3.

I'm not much of an album guy. IMO electronic music is much more suited for the EP/single format (except ambient and other experimental works), but here are five albums I have really loved this year:

1. Marcel Dettmann - Dettmann II

2. James Holden - The Inheritors

3. Clockwork - B.O.A.T.S. (Based on a True Story)

4. DJ Sprinkles - Queerifications & Ruins

5. Function - Incubation

just finished my top 50 list, just waiting for the year to end if there are any new albums that can possibly knock out any of the 50 I already have.

other then that I'll probably end up posting it here or something.
