Simply put, here is our December ranking for the 2013 NHL Draft. Things are getting hot and heavy around Christmas. This draft, to say the least, is deep.
As scouting director Dan Stewart put it in the notes he sent me:
Currently FC has just under fifity (48 to be exact) prospects that we have identified as having first round talent and are playing themselves into consideration for our top 30 rankings each and every month. This draft possesses the closest semblance talent-wise to the storied 2003 draft that I have seen with only 2005 coming as close.
I wonder where Shinkaruk will end up by the end of the season
I'm more wondering if we'll see Barkov at #2 after the World Juniors! Being a stone's throw away from Medicine Hat, I too am interested to see what kind of second half Shinkaruk has. He's got one assist and is -3 in two games since being cut from Canada's team, but by no means is that an indication he's slowing up. Too small a sample size.
1. Erne is much too low. I'd have him in the top-15.
From what I hear, there is very much a split opinion on Erne in NHL circles. Some teams think he's a Top 10 pick, and others think that he's a product of a good team but can't create for himself or others.
