Just to pass the lockout

How about what would be our all time scab (duds) team.

2 Goalies
6 Defensemen
3 Centers
3 Rightwings
3 Leftwings
2 Speciality team players.

I'll start off.

Goalie:
Gilles Grattton
Dunc Wilson

Defenseman:
Michael Stewart
Gil Marotte
Allan Hamilton

Center:
Gene Carr
Wayne Dillon
Manny Malhotra

Rightwing:
Christian Dube

Leftwing:
Chris Kontos
Greg Polis
Pavel Brendl

Speciality player:
Larry Jeffrey

Freakin' good list, Atlanta...

I think I need a clearer understanding of what you're looking for in terms of 'dud'...are they high picks that amounted to nothing, like Jeff Brown, or are they guys who have toiled around in different leagues and would be candidates for a scab team during any era, like Jeff 'Putty' Toms.

Fine list Atlanta.

I'd add Ulanov, Karpa, Ciger, Fedyk, Scott Fraser and Kamensky.

I'd remove Malhotra.

Just from the past 7 years and only guys that have played more than a handful of games:

Ciger-Toms-Sweeney
Forbes-Dube-Grosek
McKenna-Pronger-Fraser

Popovic-Ndur
Mertzig-Purinton
Smrek-Karpa

Muzzatti
Labbe

Why haven't we made the playoffs recently again?

anyone who was thought of highly and stunk as a ranger. Can't believe I left off toms! He's the one that made me think of it in the first place.

Then definitely...

Stephen Rice, RW and Jeff Brown, on defense. Specialist? Wayne Presley, a supposed PK specialist. Scott Fraser, RW, was a good dud too.

Kevin Stevens needs to be on this list. As does Shane Churla.

Fraser I think was an IOU to his former head scout. Wasn't Scott the son of the Edmonton Head Scout?

Might as well add..

McSorley and Chris Kontos (although I believe Kontos played well AGAINST the Rangers).

I have forwarded your post to a higher authority.

I do remember that Sather was laughing his ass off when we signed him.

Can any list like this be truly complete without the immortal Brent FedyK? Or how about Bobby Carpenter?

Good picks, Ortmeyer41.

Kevin Hatcher, especially. He morphed into a heartless, gutless wimp when he donned a Ranger jersey.

Gargoyle mentioned Robitaille, but at least the effort was there(in my opinion). He just lost his scoring touch
when he joined the Rangers and regained it when he left.

yea just like Scheider and all the other players who leave the Rangers. And we picked Malakhov over him. That was a bad move, very bad.

I do not believe Fraser was in an way related to Barry Fraser, the Oilers scouting director from Kevin Lowe in 1979 through Alexei Mikhnov in 2000.

Fraser the player had a season for the ages (scored 29 in the AHL and then another dozen with the Oilers) and was a free agent at THE right time. Sather could laugh all he wanted about that in 1998, but you guys walked off with Adam Graves several years earlier in similar fashion.

I will not get into the Messier-Rice thing because I don't want to get depressed.

As for a name for your list, I was going to suggest Barry Beck but he was a heckuva player there for awhile. Here's hoping Lundmark does enough to stay off the list.

I guess you missed the memo about Schneider being a cancer in the lockerroom (whatever the **** that means).

We may suck, but we got character.
