Markov is 35 btw, Beaulieu isn't looking good right now, I doubt he will become a #1-2 D in the league and who's ufa at the end of 2013 ? cuz Yandle just signed a new deal this last summer.
Can you just leave Bealieu out of your analysis please, I think hes doing just fine on a rookie 'Dogs team so I don't agree at all with your assessment.
1) If the Yotes have a top 3 pick they are not trading it for Georges and Plekanec straight up nevermind throwing in Yandle.
2) Not sure Beaulieu is going to be the answer as he is falling behind where he is expected to be at this point of his career and certainly not right now.
3) Markov looks done
4) Diaz is a possiblity but he needs to show more urgency in his play and he is 26, can he change that now?
1. This was not part of the trade. That was assuming that the Habs had a top 3 pick already.
2. Not the answer, but a good asset. I see him as a middle pairing offensive d-man with first powerplay time.
3. More surprising things have happened, we can only speculate.
4. He's new to the league; came from Switzerland I believe. He would be like any rookie, though more developed. Take for example late bloomers like Tim Thomas or Zdeno Chara - not trying to compare them, but people develop at different rates.

because I prefer mackinnon or barkov and we need a left d to play with subban + if galchenyuk become center, we will have to move 1 of desharnais, plekanec or eller.
Yandle is really good, but the team also really has need of what Gorges and Plekanec do. I wouldn't make that original swap from the Habs' POV. It would leave the team too thin and weak defensively, even if it added a bigger star player in Yandle. It would also hit the leadership pretty hard.
It just doesn't make sense to take away two of the more reliable defensive talents in Montreal's roster, when its that kind of roster and system that helps Yandle thrive in Phoenix.

He has done a decent job in the AHL, the guy has only 10 points in 26 games but he is also one of the youngest guy playing in the AHL, he just recently turned 20. And I think he recently had something like a 6-7 game point streak just end.

We don't really need more D help. Subban, Gorges, Weber, Emelin and Diaz are all under 30, plus we have a lot of D prospects like Beaulieu, Tinordi, Ellis, Thrower, etc.
Would much rather get Barkov, Mackinnon or Drouin.
I'm ready to give Plekanec and Gorges for Yandle but only if the habs get one of the three first pick and draft a big winger/center like Barkov or Mackinnon.
I could imagine a team like :
Paccioretty - Desharnais - Cole
Barkov - Galchenyuk - Gallagher
Bourque - Eller - Prust
Moen - Leblanc/Nokelainen - White
Yandle - Subban
Markov - Emelin
Tinordi - Diaz
I think we miss something in defense, markov is getting older and I don't really believe in Beaulieu. Yandle is young and could be great with subban.
I'll go Pleks and Emelin for Yandle but that is all. Habs need another d-man but free agency way to go instead of paying thru the nose. Gomez is done in Montreal so cap room should be no problem

Pleks + Emelin is fair value for both sides in my opinion, however I'm unsure as to whether or not I'd do that deal. Pleks + Eller for Hanzal and a first? Please tell me you're joking. Assume Eller and the first are a wash, you REALLY believe Hanzal and Plekanec are even in the same league???
Seriously buddy, great prospects DO NOT = a great team. Get your head straight. You can't make a team out of juniors and expect them to succeed in the NHL. Stop trying to give away our assets for absolutely ridiculous value.
You should see how many phoenix fans are willing to give up a 25yr old 6-5 220 pd hanzal straight up for 5-11 195 pd 29 yr oldplekanac. I think u may be surprised. A big reason in Phoenix's trip to the final four was Hanzal. Everyone valus there own more, it's natural. Whether we are in a rebuild mode or not, I think you would agree we are in a state of flux. I think we could SERIOUSLY build a team to win the cup. I'm pretty sure their is a spot on a winner for hanzal. It's like instead of seeing what we can get for our assets' we should identify what it is we want to build a winner and then use them to get as many as we can. Free agency can fill the wholes. Pre-requisites for all players to be obtained should be that they are made up of nuts and bolts. Instead of plugging along trying to gain a step each year, I'd sooner look at a 2-3 yr plan to do it rite. It's not like a full rebuild because there are a good number of quality pioeces there now.
No thanks from a Habs perspective, Plekanec + Diaz is probably the most I'd do. Considering Plekanec is comparable to Krejci, and it was discussed that Krejci for Yandle was fair value.
Adding Gorges would constitute an overpayment for a position which we do not need.
That's crazy, Plekanec does not hold the same value as Krejci. Grabovski holds more value than Plekanec anyway, so would you agree that Grabovski for Yandle is a fair deal? Gorges an overpayment...?

No chance. Hanzal is our most valuable forward by far right now, not to mention a center when we are extremely center poor. He and OEL are as close to untradable as you get these days.
I would take plekanac over grabovski all day every day. Krecji and plekanac are about as close or equal to each other as you can get but I think i'd still take plekanac because of edge in penalty killing-defensive department.

I'd be willing to send you Yandle for Eller, Gallagher, and a 2013 1st. If Eller isn't ready for 2nd line duty I would be just fine sitting him on the 3rd.
