How many position players have had to do this? Seems rare.

I believe Rafael Furcal had TJ two years ago. I know he had arm surgery, and I believe it was TJ.

Not giving him a long-term deal may work out to be a good move on the O's part.

Of the A's circa 07/09 when he was one of their better hitters.

Yeah, I don't miss that 'era' at all.

Sucks, because I'm an O's fan.

Also sucks, because there are like 4 good catchers in the league, and he was one of them.

(That's an exaggeration, but not much of one).

Sally Perez
Buster Posey
Jonathan Lucroy
Wieters
Jason Castro
Wilin Rosario
Yadi Molina
Evan Gattis
Derek Norris
Devin Mesoraco
Chooch
Zunino
Ianetta
Miguel Montero
Yan Gomes

Those are all good catchers. Some of them among the better players in the league.

Though he has a wet noodle arm, John Jaso can rake.
