Six outs from Team USA finishing last in Pool D, behind Italy, Canada and Mexico. In baseball.

should have squeezed.

if bunting "makes things happen" then you should always do it, right?

I wouldn't be suprised if they go by total wins eliminated Australia, Spain,a dn Brazil, and then go run differential which would eliminate China and the USA don't have to qualify

i'd laugh if the us had to play in november.

most of the young guys would be shut down by their teams. free agent veterans would be more concerned with finding work. maybe the us could field an amateur team? ncaa would declare so many guys ineligible.

We'd bring in a team of retired golden oldies

Canada's qualifier this past year was in September. 2 were in September and 2 in November. If the USA have to qualify and it's in September they have to take a team of minor leaguers at best

minor league guys would still be shut down or close to being shut down on innings limits.

maybe we send the astros? it's not like they'll be doing anything in september.

Victorino bunts and fails, makes himself go 0-1 and ends up striking out.

Zobrist bunts out to catcher

As soon as Mauer got on base against a guy no one's ever heard of, you knew Canada was coughing this up. Curious as to why Aumont was used in the 7th and not 8th.

MLB could just declare the US automatically qualifies as the host country, rules be damned. I mean, the NHL certainly set things up to make it easier for Canada at the old Canada Cups.

the us doesn't host all of the games though. if you want to count puerto rico as part of the us, half the games are in asia. one could argue that they could just move the entire wbc to latin america and asia.
