I want to watch follow this but the games are on at 5am.

I'm just not into it like I was in 06 and to a lesser extent 09.

Cuba and Japan clearly through from their group, the Korea loss was a shocker though, not so much because the Netherlands can't play but because S. Korea was supposed to be a favorite and improving.... Wednesday Japan vs Cuba should be one of the 1st major games of the tournament

I don't follow this as much as I did in 06, but still catch games if I am free. Love watching the later rounds, elimination games are the best.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Can't wait for the USA and other rounds to start.

Taking a road trip with some buddies this weekend to Phoenix. Catching a couple spring training games along with USA/Mexico (and possibly USA/Canada). Went to some of the games in 2006 when it was in San Diego. Cuba vs. Dominican Republic was interesting to watch.

Obviously not a perfect tournament by any means, but still fun to cheer on your country and see some international talent that may eventually hit the big leagues.

While it would be nice if the Americans could bring all the best players, keep in mind what happened in 2006. It was a complete circus.

If the mlb really want this to be big, i dont think only showing it on the mlb network is the way to go. just my opinion.

I'm on spring break this week so I might watch the NED-AUS game tonight.

Also I want Arruebarreuna to defect and sign with the Cards so bad.

For sure, but I doubt TBS wants it. Certainly Fox doesn't.
ESPN I bet they could get to air the last couple rounds if they gain some momentum.

So what's Canada opening day line-up looking like?

C - Robinson
1B - Votto
2B - Orr
SS - Lawrie
3B - Morneau
OF - Gillies
OF - Loewen
OF - Saunders
DH - Smith

??

I had no idea about this tournament until today, I was excited when I found out the US was playing and then I looked at their roster..how disappointing. Would absolutely love to see the team play with all their best players.

Imagine the roster if the best players all played

C- Posey
1B - Fielder
2B - Pedroia
3B - Wright
SS - Tulowitzki
LF - Braun
CF - Trout
RF - Kemp
DH - Hamilton or McCutchen, either may play LF instead of Braun and hive him DH possibly

And then for pitchers..there are too many elite US pitchers to even begin to name.

A roster like that and I would gladly tune in to watch

I'm pretty sure MLBN is in more homes than NFLN. I could be wrong though.

I still don't get why USA doesn't play until Friday.

I this may sound funny, but I hate Jonathan Malo. A lot. He played on the Brooklyn Cyclones and he sucked and I used to scream at him when I was way younger and he finally had it and started cursing at me and my brother.

I normally root for Canada as my #2 team in international hockey tournaments, but I can't say I'll be rooting for Canada with Malo on their team.

Did Italy invite Votto to play for them?

Maybe they give the countries playing outside the US a head start so they can travel and adjust?

Shocker. Good for the sport. Also, Cuba beat Japan tops pool A.

They give the Asian teams a head start so that they have a few days to adjust to the time zone switch for the final round.

Italy are actually the reigning European champions and while yes their WBC team is mostly North American players, they are probably the better up and coming country in Europe than the Netherlands (excluding their Caribbean players).

If we are honest, this tournament isn't about the United States. Right now it's a profitable enterprise in the US, selling tickets, merchandise etc, but that isn't really the ultimate goal. This tournament is about Italy, Netherlands, Brazil, China etc. Frankly, considering that it's a profitable enterprise and it's growing the game in other countries, some where it had been fading, this tournament has been a rousing success.

Canada lost via the Mercy rule 14-4, at the World Baseball Classic, how is that even possible?
