i think the dominican would be a deeper team, which would show itself over a series. *shrug*

i think they are deeper up the middle and deeper in the rotation.

they wouldn't have the top end talent that the us would have but they would be a more well-rounded team.

But if there's some baseball forum that's the baseball equivalent of HF, I think they all care about this tournament. How many people in the US cares about the World Hockey Championships? Not many. And it's probably the same thing in Canada. On HF, plenty of people care about it.

This tournament has massive potential in the US. Until the American players take this seriously instead of making it look like it's just a vacation from spring training, I don't think this tournament will become big. If they win, I really think this could become huge here.

They couldn't find a replacement for Teixeira better than Hosmer?

From what I heard Torre simply wanted to call up a player who was already in Arizona for Spring Training rather than have somebody like Ike Davis come from Florida. I think its nonsense but that was the reasoning

and like i said, i don't think it will ever really get big in the us.

again, american players won't treat it as much more than warm ups for the regular season unless the wbc starts writing them checks.

and as far as the public goes, most of the public doesn't give a **** about international competitions. most people i talk to only care about the olympics for the human interest element of it, not really the competition. otherwise you'd think sports that captivate the american audience like figure skating for example, would be among the most popular sports in the country.

i don't think the mets would want davis to go, to be honest. he really struggled last year coming off his illness and i'd imagine they'd be more interested in him being around the team.

they needed a left-handed hitting first baseman. ryan howard? prince fielder? hosmer's better than both of them probably.

i was going to say that i don't even really like the us's logo but i don't think any team's is very well thought out. they went really generic with just the letters.

Hmm..don't think so, there isn't one Dominican Republic SP in the majors that would make it as a starting pitcher on the US team, the closest would be Johny Cueto I believe.

The US unquestionably has the deepest pitching - by a large margin.

it would be kind of funny if the us had to qualify to get into the wbc.

i wonder if the games would even be on tv.

Let's see if the team can start getting clutch hits for a change.

once again, i don't deny that the us is top heavy in talent.

i think the dominican republic has better quality near the bottom and up the middle of the field on defense.

you disagree. i get it.

Despite our natural inclination as Americans to think everything is about us, this tournament isn't about us at all. It's about Italy, brazil etc.

I agree that in the infield they would be better defensively, but I still don't get how the US is top heavy in talent.

i think that once you get past the all-stars, you see that the dominicans are possibly better all-around players than the americans.

rarely do top heavy all-star teams do well. even if it's a hypothetical situation, i think a less overall talented but still extremely talented dominican team that, once again, is built up the middle with power and speed on offense and quality defense wins in the end.
