They're broadcasted in a cable-channel you need to pay a monthly fee for in Finland. And that only gets you Finland games, quarters, semis, bronze and gold medal games

Edit: Have my coffeemaker loaded up and ready, and set the alarm. Looking forward to it, if not the hangover

Wait what? It is 9:30 when the game begins. It's not really that early.

Ohh crap. Yeah. It's early.

I always wake up at some ridiculous hour like 7 a.m. or something when I'm hungover.

Otherwise, holidays screw up my sleep rhythm even worse than it usually is. For example, I just woke up 2,5 hours ago. Yeah.

So, is it only MAX that's broadcasting this?

Yup, only MAX. Dunno if MTV3 will air some games. I have purchased the whole tournament at Katsomo.

Good idea, although 17 is kind of steep when you consider that the whole MTV3 pay package is something like 15/month. I'll have to see the stream quality first, if there are decent free streams available which are other than justin.tv, I won't be buying it. Katsomo has never really impressed me, their software is unfinished and it seems so... slow.

So, yeah, it depends on the stream quality.

Currently it only shows that Bukarts is as skilled as Grundmanis. Man oh man, we're in for treat if that's the case, right?

The broadcast will start 9.15AM so the game begins 9.30.

About 5 hours still to go, it's almost 4AM here so I have to stay awake because I certainly don't want to miss this game!

Let's say 7-1 to Finland. Lehkonen x4, Barkov, Armia and Vainio. Sandis Ozolins scores for Latvia.

Would be pretty funny to see a 40 year old take on a bunch of 19 year olds.

This ain't gonna be pretty. Stacked Fin team plus unwhelming Latvian defense equals double digit goals for Finland. Latvia has offensive abilities but it won't keep them in this game

Finland 11-3

It's a sad showing of hockey's international presence that Latvia keeps making the top division. No offense to any Latvians here but this is a country with 2.2 million people and they're never anywhere in the same vicinity as the top teams.

Right. Because such things don't occur in other sports, such as, say, basketball

Good morning lads! Time to get up, pack my laptop, go to work and getting ready for the game!

My prediction will be 14-1.

Basketball is a much more international sport than Hockey. USA dominance is even greater than Canada's hockey dominance but USA is a much more populous country so gotta factor that in. The next group of teams don't really blow out top 8 teams. Spain is the unquestioned number 2 team in Basketball right now and only beat China by 16 in the Olympics, Australia by 12, Great Britain by 1 and lost to Russia and Brazil. Meanwhile Finland who is probably like the 5th best hockey nation will skate the Latvians right out of the building and has only a very slim shot against Canada or Russia.

You're in a wrong thread, pal. If you wanna complain about the level of skill in hockey world you should make a thread for it and not come here and blow smoke up from your ass in a GDT.

Alright. W/E. Go Latvia. Always pull for the underdog.

Well that was a weird attempt at thread derailment.

Anyway, hard to say what the score is going to be with the (Finland's) 5-1 win over the US. Latvia, already an underdog and with their best forward missing, isn't going to win, but I don't think Finland will pad stats to double digits. 7-1 or something like 5-0.

Not knowing too much about Latvia's defence, and not hearing anything too promising about them outside of the top two guys, I'll go with 7-2 Finland if they're as bad as I think they'll be, 5-2 if they're a bit better than I'm expecting.

Yet you still have elite nations, such as Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia with small populations, as well.

In any case, I'm going with 9 - 1 Finland.

You sure? Let's remember it's the opening game of the entire tournament and since Russians are major streamers of sports usually and it's played in Russia, Russians might stream it. Also Canadians might. I'm surprised if only Finnish TV broadcasts this, really surprised, so there has to be some streams out there.

We are happy the way it is with our Latvian little brothers . Besides if there was good Estonion National team out there Leo Komarov might jump ships from our men's national team and we don't want that .
