The days of double digit scores are long gone...Hockey countries are good enough to hold off double digit scores....i think....

I expect Canada to dominate as the game progresses...hope they stay out of the penalty box...they should be able to score at least 5 goals and give up no more than 1

Any one have information about Drouin ?? They says it is a minor charlyhorse ???

Nah, it's good this way. Subban can take it as a huge wake-up call and play better, and his teammates can realize they let him down last game too and redeem themselves. If neither of those happen, they can go back to Binnington who will rightfully have a chip on his shoulder after not playing the first game, despite earning it. I think it's win-win.

It can happen from time to time. Much depends on how weaker team starts the game, if they let up two-three quick goals to superior team then chance of double digit score is high.

I know Rieder made the team even with his injured foot but have not heard if he will start or not? I'm thinking he could sit the first 3 games that Germany wont win anyways (unless Ozil and Klose score as a previous poster mentioned) and be ready for Slovakia and the knock out round. I am looking forward to seeing Leon Draisaitl. Other question I have is why leave Tim Bender off the team? He is small but this tournemant is held on European ice...which favors speed. They have a couple of giants playing who be more suited for NA ice.

Need to put up a big number offensively and get some confidence/chemistry. Winning this game 3 or 4 to 1 doesn't bode well after how bad offensively Canada was in pre-tournament competition.

That is what worries me, although of course all of those big guys are used to playing on the big ice. But still, I would have loved to see one more defenseman out there who is a little more mobile. But apparently they wanted to go for physical dominance and maturity. Which is a pity because I am a big fan of Bender's game.

So instead of playing in the WJC Bender will be with the U18 team playing in a tournament in Switzerland where, aside from the host country, they will play Slovakia, Czech Republic and Finland.

1-0 Germans on a last minute goal that Subban should've stopped

Team Canada can't stand the eternal darkness Ufa has for them. Hence 3-0 for Germany.

No, but really... Team Canada wins but doen't absolutely destroy Team Germany. I think they need to find chemistry first before they dominate and I don't think they find it in this game yet.

Obviously a U.S. fan here, but hoping for a big game from my Bruins, especially Camara who has come a long way since we drafted him.

Someone's feeling pessimistic. 6-1 Canada, anything closer and I'm worried.

Germany usually plays really well defensively and will no doubt play above their level against team Canada, they usually do.

Anyways I'll say Germany 1-0 where one of the German forwards blows by one of the Canada defnders in which Corrado should've beat out, and then the German player throws a soft backhand on goal Subban should've stopped.

Canada wins 4-1

Are you guys planning to stay up or try and wake yourselves for this game? I was thinking of going to sleep around 10pm and waking up for 3:30 when the game starts, that way I can be well rested for the remaining games tomorrow.

@theskipper
You are right. Im not so happy with the big guys too.
Another thing i dont understand is that germany had only 1 pregame.
Especially as the underdog you have to play the system near perfectly.
How can you do this with just 1 pregame

11-2 Canada but hope to see some magic from Draisaitl

My prediction is that I will be waking up at 2:30 am to a pot of coffee, a big bowl of salad, and a 10-0 Canada win. Not trying to be a Christmas dink, that's just what I think the score will be. I have a feeling the boys will find their scoring touch and score in bunches. Can't wait.
