Bah. It's gonna be 4 AM when this thing starts out here. I mean I really want to watch Sweden (Rakell, Karlsson, Lindholm, Forsberg, Lindholm, De La Rose, Wennberg) but that's pretty late. Damn you Ufa.

Yes, the gold may be out of reach, but in the Czech team, are they facing players active on a higher level than they do in Allsvenskan?

Why isn't Lassinantti starting? His numbers in team Sweden games this year are literally twice as good.

Still, Lundström plays in the SEL, while Lassinantti plays in Allsvenskan/div1.

I don't understand why Lassinantti isn't starting. He was very good in the Canada game.

Forsberg, on the other hand, was a major disappointment for me. Maybe he was trying too hard or something, but he was undisciplined and didn't really impress me at all like he should've.

Either way, Sweden wins 3-1. Collberg, Djuus and Rakell with an empty netter. Frk scores the Czechs only goal.

Sweden got unluckly missing key players this year especially of defense with Brodin, and Klefbom, and now they have Hampus Lindholm not playing this either. The Czechs defense is not great either, and both teams have players that are capable of putting the puck in the net. This game could see a fair share of goals. Defending champs probably just squeak it out.

Sweden 7-6 (OT)

Hampus is out of the tournament or just for this game?

Though I doubt it's a tournament ending injury, if it was they would have named someone else to the team as rosters were only due today.

And if it was a questionable injury they would have dxone what Canada did with Drouin, never named him to the team and didn't name a replacement, now they have only 22 players and can name 1 more at any time(has to be at least 2 hours before a game for said player to be eligible to play that game). I believe they named Hampus to the team so I'd suspect he'd miss 1 game at most but I've haven't heard any specifics about the injury

They have not named the 7th D, so they're doing exactly what Canada's doing with Drouin.

They've got Cze-Lat-Suisse so can afford to wait until Finland game but should have some kind of indication before that I suppose.

Sweden and Czech Republic did the same thing. Switzerland's got three open spots.

Hockey Canada ‏@HockeyCanada

@HockeyCanada has registered Jonathan Drouin (@jodrouin27) as its 23rd and final roster player for #2013WJC. #thereason

Ben&StephenTH ‏@BenStephenTH

Now looks like Jonathan Drouin WILL be in the lineup vs. Germany.

Hampus has headed home.. Concussion.

Sweden will go into this tournaments just as a dangerous underdog now. No matter the outcome, a lot of experience will be gained for the home tournament next season. A little interesting to see Hägg after all.
