Too old to start playing roller hockey?

All of my buddies play it and I've been really jealous of all of them lately. I turned 16 last year and I am a junior in high school. I have been able to skate pretty well since I was about 10, but don't skate very often. I can only skate like an average person (no stopping skills or incredible turning) and really have no skill at all with the stick. Should I go for it or not, and what are your guys suggestions?

16 and too old don't work well together .

Go for it. It'll be the best time of your life.

YouTube inline hockey skating tutorials.

I was 24 and decided to start with roller because my brother in law played. Now I'm on ice and it's been a blast..those YouTube videos helped a ton. Especially the shooting ones, I would go to the outdoor rink by myself for hours trying to lift my wrist shot, now it's not a problem...but it all started with a willingness to learn and taking the extra time to practice. Have fun!

16 is too old to become a gymnast or ballet dancer, but that's about it. Everything else, go for it.

Myself, I started ice hockey at 27.

Wrong.

Some of my friends started ICE HOCKEY and made the team senior year. One is a pretty good defenseman too.

Go for it bud but don't buy an expensive composite though, just go cheap or wooden. You don't need more than a $100 stick for roller unless you play pro.

I'm 21 and score at a point per game in the second highest division in the roller house league where I play, and I started at 17 with no previous skating ability. You're never to old to learn, you just have some catching up to do.

to old? really? No.

At 16 I taught myself to skate. At 20 I joined rec league ice and played shinny for the first time, continuing for 8 years. I'm going back again now after a 10 year hiatus. I still suck.

I'm 41. I started playing in April of last year.

I never even watched hockey before October 2011. My son and I went to the opening night game and were hooked.

I'm not great, I never will be great, but I am better than I was in April...or May, June, July, etc. I skate several times a week and am having a blast.

So while I didn't figure on making the NHL at my age and being a woman, there's absolutely nothing to keep me from having fun with a sport that I love. I wish I had started at 16 - or even at 26 or 36! And I'm very glad that I didn't wait until 46.

Go for it.

practice practice practice practice practice practice practice. Thats all it take bud. Get a stick and a smartball. practice stick handling every day in a stationary position at your side, in front of you and your backhand. Same with skating just practice man, practice makes perfect.
