I didn't see the game. I bet he'll play through it. They have one of the best trainers in the business.

"Kobe's unhappy w/ Dahntay Jones, whose foot he landed on after fadeaway miss in final seconds. "Officials need to protect shooters," he says"

"Kobe Bryant on Dahntay Jones' part in the play: "I can't get my mind past the fact that I've got to wait a year to get revenge.""

If you look at it he sticks his right leg out which isn't the one he injured. His left ankle is the one he injured and it's just a normal motion imo.

Was watching ESPN and they were talking about how Kobe getting injured was a dirty play. People landing on another player's foot always happens. Curry was always getting his ankle injured landing on other people's foot and no one ever complained it was a dirty play and it never was. Calling Jones play dirty is just ridiculous.

Probably a lot of emotion talking. That play wasn't dirty. The fact that he landed on Jones' foot is unfortunate, not dirty. Kobe was the only player who committed a foul on that play.

I agree with you guys. I didn't see anything major about it or different. Kobe just noticed it now cause it happened to him. Foul, sure, dirty? No. Plus, even if it was, then what? This is a league who didn't suspend Ibaka or Cousins.

Anyway

The refs rarely call it and they're definitely not going to call it in that situation but they're supposed to call a foul if the player shooting the ball isn't allowed to safely land. Jones' foot was right underneath Kobe when he came back down. But they're also supposed to call a foul when a player kicks his leg out, which Kobe clearly did.

Kobe is just crying about this because it's Jones. These two have a history going back to when Jones intentionally tripped him a couple years ago. Jalen Rose also recently admitted he used to do this to players and he intentionally tried to injure Kobe in the finals by sticking his foot underneath him went he went up for a shot. Maybe that's fresh in Kobe's mind.

I'd have to see the wording in the rulebook, but apparently the league thinks it was missed:

With 4.9 seconds remaining in the Atlanta Hawks' 96-92 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on March 13, the Lakers' Kobe Bryant attempted a jump shot over the Hawks' Dahntay Jones. After review at the league office, video replay confirmed that referees missed a foul call on Jones as he challenged Bryant's shot and did not give him the opportunity to land cleanly back on the floor. Bryant should have been granted two free throws.

Of course, we all know it could be in the book in simple black and white, but if it isn't Kobe injured the league stays quiet.

I bet you Jordan would've gotten free throws on that.

I really don't even care. I hope they lose every game the rest of the season. I just worry about what this team does.

Not really impressed with it or anything that they do ... for me, it's more about what our team is doing and how we're coming together as a unit
