not really, it's just been skewed in international hockey

The hurried statement the IIHF put out should have put this to bed anyways.
You can take the philosophical route of what Camara's intentions were, but that's for a different forum.

Actions speak louder than words and Camara made sure to bring his shoulders back and thrust his right shoulder directly into Luza's face. It's a clean hit by the books and the shoulder cocking was unnecessary, he was already going full speed and hitting a player in a bad position, but if something's worth doing, it's worth over-doing right?

Read the rule, NHL or IIHF. It leaves lots of room for interpretation. I realize the NHL has been out for a bit, but I'd bet you've been confused by some calls here too.

Look at the canadian clown go! I guess this guy should have kept his head higher and he should have had more milk as a kid.

Canadians should be kicked out of the tournament, since it is obvious that they are there just to hurt other players with illegal hits.
In Finland does everyone kiss after the game instead of shaking hands?

You should know by now, Canadians are dirty, cheap, divers while the U.S. and Euro teams are filled with angels.

I don't blame you for feeling that way. Canada being out is the only way Finland could hope to medal.

No, I mean the country that has won two of the last three actual best on best tournaments, and half the world juniors in the last decade (not to mention silver in four of them).

I'm not here to argue that the WC's are irrelevant because I know they're important to Europeans, I just don't give any weight to them when determining international prowess in hockey. Canada and the US are sending their Z-teams and European hockey powers are sending B and C teams to the WC's. I think that the WJC's, over an extended period (decade, for example), give a good indication of what country is consistently producing the best hockey players because (aside from a few studs who make the NHL right away) it is generally the best each country has to offer in that age group. Hand in hand with Olympic results I think this paints a much clearer picture of the international hockey powers.
I love this post.

Being a Knights fan I'm sure you paid to see Perry on a nightly basis. Also I would hardly call Crosby a saint. Just ask Tortarella.

It'll be really hard for you to win this argument because you are going to have to completely ignore the Olympic results where it is the ultimate judge of the best these countries can do. You can try your hand with the WHC but the Olympics is just too much of a factor to ignore. I really don't know how you can make any sort of effective counter.

1. It's not a problem.
2. See #1.

If I hold a IQ contest today and you can't make it, you will be ranked last. Are your feelings hurt? My guess is no.

Abso-friggin'-lutely. I take diving over injuring somebody any day and twice on Sundays. Canadians are only too happy to goon it up... especially if they are losing. Unfortunately it worked against Slovakia. *sigh*

The ridiculous amount of extra talent also helped.

No, no, no. Clearly it was the hit by Lipon that made the win possible. The Slovaks scored on the ensuing PP and that's when we knew we had them.

Exactly. We lulled into a false sense of security.

After the Turin Olympics I certainly remember having to read a lot of counters to the argument that the Olympics is the ultimate judge.

Funny the Olympics seem so much more important now, I wonder why that is.

In their eyes it varies depending on the result of the last Olympics.

P. Sharp, R. Nugent-Hopkins, R. Getzlaf, C. Perry, J. Skinner, E. Kane, J. Eberle just to name few good old canadian boys participating in the last WHC. All these are first liners in their respectiive NHL teams. It does not mean that without Crosby you always have your Z team.
