Well I suck. Made it all the way until 4:21am, took a seat on the couch with a cup of coffee and the next thing I know, I'm waking up and it's 9:35am... and my coffee is cold.

Can't say I'm too surprised that the Germans lost, but I'm happy they at least scored three goals and made it somewhat interesting, at the end of the 1st period. Just got out-classed in every possible way and Canada's skill level was too much for them.

Would like Subban to make one of those blocker side saves, looked a little squirrelly in his reaction to them. That said many goalies need to play on edge to be sharp so okay with him staying in till he shows what he can do when they need to lean on him which has yet to happen.

Hopefully he can get his groove back with maybe a little more playing time next game.

I didn't think Hamilton looked bad. He didn't "wow" me like I know he can, but he did a solid job in all situations.

Harrington looked just great. Hopefully he keeps it up, because he looks to be the only guy who can play competent defense back there lol.

Agreed on Reinhart. Where was he? Really, the ice time in this one was a headsctratcher
In Rielly's case it's hard to be consistent with inconsistent ice time. The guy has a great first period and then basically gets benched in the second. Real nice job Spott...idiot. Maybe I'm just making excuses but I just find it hard to criticize someone's play. Sure he didn't look good in the third to you but again when you get like 5 seconds of ice time in the second you're probably not going to be at your best in the third.

Mark McNeil went 12-1 on the face-off circle

Danault looked good but stats wise went 3-4 on the face-offs and was the only minus player for Canada.

Subban stopped 25/28 shots. .892 sv%. (No question 2 of the 3 goals were not his fault, he played well.)

Harrington had about 6 or more blocked shots and looked really good.

RNH, Scheiefle, Huberdeau were dominant.

Strome, Drouin, Ritchie were great. (Excellent pp movement)

Lipon, Danault, McNeil were good defensively. (Lipon was tenacious and Danault looked poised.)

MacKinnon, Camara, Rattie were good when they were on the ice. (MacKinnon wasn't played enough, Rattie had good chances on the pp)

Hamilton, Harrignton pairing was great. (Harrignton was CAN best d-man)

Reinhart, Ouellet were also solid.

Rielly, Wotherspoon played good, even though they weren't expected to play as a pairing.

Murphy looked good at times but bobbled the puck sometimes.

I thought I was going to pull an all nighter. Sat up till 2 when I started falling asleep so went to bed with an alarm set for 4:30. Fell back asleep till 4:38 and got up in a mild panic thinking I had missed the game.

You're welcome kind sir. great game for Canada, but defensivly they were pretty shaky. Ouellet, Harrington, Drouin, Lipon, Nuge & Huberdeau had a great game. Scheifle, Strome, Reinhart and Rielly were good, but not great. Also liked Rattie & Nate.

The biggest problem for Team Canada is the coaching. Disappointing that this could be what ends up holding this team back. Should have made the best team possible, Spott. Complete idiot. MacKinnon deserves more TOI. D is pretty sloppy. Frankie Corrado would have brought some stability to the team. Blingington will end up with the #1 job soon enough, but, I have to admit, Subban faired okay. More on the horrendous plays by the D that left him out to dry.

from what i've seen so far (and it's only half way through the 2nd period) - germany really didn't play as poorly as the score would indicate.
