Some of these are pretty homer-y. The only one's I'm confident in are LA and Chicago. The Rangers don't have good enough centers and Anaheim only gives me one line and a netminder.

But...

And they had below average goaltending.

Sid and Geno carried that team, they combined for 67 points and the team only had 79 goals total.

Agreed. I'm not going to argue with the Blackhawks, Kings, maybe Capitals, but teams like the Habs, Senators, Blues, Coyotes aren't close IMO.

It's a tough question but I'd take RNH, Hall, Yak, and Eberle

Most likely. If you wanna get a player like Crosby, you'll pay much more than what he really is worth. Most teams would benefit more by having 4, good young players at each position than the best player at one position. The advantage of having Crosby alone is his salary cap will be lower in the long term and you'll have room to take solid players in the other positions.

I'd go with LA group.

Kopitar = elite, legit, whatever you wanna call it number 1 centre.
Richards = Elite number two center, number 1 center on many teams
Doughty = Franchise D-man
Quick = Franchise goalie

EDIT: Damn I just realized how scary the Kings are going into the future.

Oh, reading comprehension fail. >_<

I'd take Kane, Toews, Keith, Seabrook then. Kings' big 4 would be a great pick too.

Crosby Malkin, without a second thought for me. The Top 2 players in the game, there isn't another team in the league with 2 Top 10 players IMO, so I take Crosby Malkin very easily.

Nugent-Hopkins
Hall
Yakupov
Eberle

Usually you'd go with quality over quantity but there's no way you can turn down the last 3 reining 1st overall picks and Eberle.

Unless Montreal is sure it can grab a few quality players to fill its holes once they acquire Crosby/Malkin, keeping the 4 players mentioned above is the smartest strategy.

The 2 best players in the league vs 3 very good players and an elite goalie. It's really a no brainer.

Your telling me you wouldn't move Price and Subban for Crosby? And Galchenyuk and Pacioretty for Malkin?

If so you are really underestimating both Crosby and Malkin, with both them you have a contender for the next decade.

If we're talking 2 players from Pittsburgh, or 4 players from any other team, my top pick would be the Kings, with Kopitar/Richards/Doughty/Quick. Two excellent 2-way centres, an elite #1 dman, an elite #1 goalie, and they're all relatively young (Doughty is 23, Kopitar is 25, Quick is 26, Richards is 27). It's pretty damn easy to build a great team when you have amazing players to lean on at the 4 most important positions (#1 C, #2 C, #1 dman and #1 goalie).

If Pittsbugh also get 4 players, though, I would take Crosby, Malkin, Letang and one of Neal/Fleury over the LA's top 4.

Pens fan and this would be a hard choice.

Honestly, I love the two-headed beast, but I would be really tempted with the 4 young oilers and the 4 rangers. I would probably pull the trigger with the rangers, just because a package like that is hard to pass up.

Hawks possibly (Toews, Hossa, Kane, Keith/Seabrook)
Kings (Kopitar, Richards, Doughty, Quick)
Oilers (Hall, RNH, Yakupov, Eberle/Schultz)
Flyers (Giroux, Coburn, Bryz, Briere/Couturier/Schenn)
Anaheim (Perry, Ryan, Getzlaf, Hiller/Fowler)

Montreal is one of the teams where I would take Crosby and Malkin over the best four they could muster up.

Last time I checked, Crosby and Malkin carried an average team to the Finals, two years in a row, and won them a Championship. And since when is Crosby a "one-way forward"?
