Not if Spott continues to give him 5 minutes of ice time a game

I think 5-2 Canada sounds about right, although Slovakia could easily take this game if Canada starts slow or has a couple breakdowns.

Slovakia are not in any way going to be able to take this game. The Slovaks played as well as they could play against a Russian team that thought it was going to be a cake walk.

Canada will be under no such illusions and make life difficult for the Slovak D.

Reminds me of that HIMYM where they want to watch the Superbowl together and try to avoid it all day.

Hoping Canada can clean up their act today.

As has been said - not without a shift in Spott's mindset. I think MacKinnon has a lot more to give than what he's been allowed to, thus far; I actually thought he looked better than Drouin in the exhibition games, and look what Drouin's done with linemates, ice-time, and PP time to boot. Best forward outside of the Big Three.

Seeing MacKinnon get more ice-time is a big key as far as I'm concerned; the Canadians need to avoid relying too heavily on that top unit. As good as they are, even the best lines can be shut down.

I need one of those headsets that Ted fashioned for himself.

At least it's as soon as I wake up, and not a whole day of avoiding it.

Spott is a disgrace

Subban will kill the canadians, he has sucked all tourney. Binnington has been outstanding.

Totally agree if Spott would actually play him during the game unlike the last 3 games I have watched.
Sure not helping the young kid gain any confidence. Hey didn't USA play Jones regularly. Oh ya and he scored too.HMMM!

This Slovak team plays very well along the boards. We will have to work hard to win this one. No gift of a game.

Prediction - 4-2 Canada, Subban plays average not good but remains #1 goalie, Murphy gets more ice time than he deserves, top line plays 17 minutes plus 5 of 8 minutes of PP, 2nd line plays 9 minutes plus 3 minutes of PP, 3rd and 4th line 5 minutes plus any PK play
Morgan Reilly gets under used again. Sorry Toronto fans
No worries from this Leaf fan. As long as Canada wins i couldn't care less if Rielly ever hits the ice.

I hope Slovakia plays as well as they did vs Russia. Canada needs a ramp up game before facing USA and Russia.

Whoever said Slovakia outshot Russia and thought that means anything? Russia only tends to shoot for high quality opportunities. Slovakia shot from everywhere and relied primarily on counter attacking. Puck possession heavily favored the Russians. Shot totals are as effective as plus minus in stats. Puck possession, scoring opportunities, and quality of opposition are far more telling.

I agree entirely.

Spott should be sitting in the stands. In fact, i'd pay team canada to fire him and put him in the stands so he can watch a real coach.

If Slovakia got to OT again and lost, I'd feel so terrible for them not getting a win.

From a fellow Canucks fan, please stop embarrassing yourself in this forum. Go back to the Canucks thread and see if there are some other fringe kooks that you can discuss the continuing injustice of Corrado being cut.

How about constructively criticizing or praising the existing team. This is Team Canada. It's not Team "Corrado Canucks" Canada.

To some other posters here, this team also isn't Team "Rielly Toronto" Canada or anti-Rielly or pro-Hamilton or anti-Hamilton. It would be nice to judge and critique these players based on their merits to this team right now and not on their NHL affiliation or potential future projection.

I'll primarily watch how they play defensively...not just the defenseman, but the whole team. They were sloppy against Germany, so if they can't fix those problems, they never will.

I want a strong defensive game. They should be able to get ~3 goals with that offense, and hopefully, a fixed PP. As Bob Mackenzie noted, Slovaks play a frustrating game with 4 guys lined up on the blueline. TC will need to capitalize on the PP.

Good to see us chock-full of optimism. Go Canada? Am I allowed to say that?

Will throw out a 4-2 for Canada.

Should get some goals, bit of shakiness, and some questionable coaching decisions.

But in the end, just focus on one game at a time. Did get up early for the Germany game so may try to do the same again, but we'll see.

Dano scores early in the 1st and Slovakia takes an early lead, leading to total meltdown here.

Canada wins 6-2.

Are Daňo and Reway really playing C?? If that's true, I'm pretty happy for that. Slovak senior NT need a top centermen for the future. That's our Achilles heel...

Mikus is centering the first line not Dano. Not sure about Reway but I suspect he played on the wing as well.

I predict a very close 1 goal game, possibly a Slovak win if Nagy plays the same way! Anyone know if he will be the starter for the rest of the tournament?

Slovakia will provided a sterner test than what Canada have been given so far recently but I'd expect Canada to win still. 4-2 Canada.
