I'll just be happy if we can get 2 or 3 goals...

early home tournaments nerves and lack of friendlies with future opponents will be a cause of a shaky win, 4:2 or 5:3 Russia.

Slovakia line-ups in the last exhbition game:

Richard Mráz - Tomáš Mikuš - Marko Daňo
Martin Réway - Dominik Fujerík - Michal Krištof
Michal Uhrík - Milan Kolena - Bruno Mráz
Patrik Lamper - Branislav Rapáč - Matúš Matis

Tomáš Nechala - Peter Čerešňák
Richard Búri - Emil Bagin
Karol Korím - Tomáš Rusina
Peter Bezuška - Dávid Bajaník

SG: Adam Nagy
BG: Patrik Romančík

Bolded players are not in final squad. Andrej Bíreš could replace Krištof, Denis Hudec will be in 4th line with Rapáč and Matis, Luža instead of Bezuška.
I predict Bokroš will make some changes between lines like Réway/R.Mráz, Luža/Rusina.

Doubtful. You'd struggle to see how Reway or Dano could make the top six.

My guess: 4-1 for Russia. Vasilevsky will be a starting goalie. Yakupov will score two.

So the above lineup showing Makarov as starting goalie isn't confirmed?

Not yet. Yesterday Varnakov said: " We haven’t decided yet who will be a starting goalie for the first game against Slovakia.... The lines and pairings that we had against Switzerland won’t change." I haven't heard any updates since than.

Vasilevskiy is supposedly the poster boy for this tournament. Hopefully he's the starter for the Russians.

I'm not all that impressed with the Slovakia roster yet they did beat the Czechs in an exhibition. The Russians have loads of offensive talent. I'm not caught up on their defense but they did let in 5 goals to the Swiss in pre tournament play. We will see some goals, Slovakia may stay with Russia early but Russia will run away with in the 3rd.

Russia 8-4

Ceresnak and Dano probably could. As could Gernat and Tvrdon if they weren't injured. Outside of that you'd be hard pressed to find someone who'd make the team this year.

Has Slovakia announced their captains yet? I'd assume that Ceresnak would be the front runner considering it's his 3rd WJC and that he captained the U18 team too.

Russia would have to really mess up to lose this game. It'd be roughly equivalent to the US losing to the Czechs last year and a sign that something is desperately wrong.

Defense is the best Russia has had in years although missing the best defender (Naumenkov). Did not see the 7-5 match against Switzerland but conceding 5 is worrying, guess we will see.

Russia 5-2 for me, not much in it after two periods.

I got stuck with the second overall pick in my pool and RNH is demolishing right now. So...yeah. Mister Yakupov, can you do your Oil proud and get me some damn points?

Karol Korim was captain against Czechs.

Home crowd pressure can be very strong for Russians. First game is always the first game. That is pretty much the only way for Slovakia to have even a slight chance to make this a tie game. I'm expecting a blow-out game however.

I have a hard time seeing any other outcome but a blowout in this game... so I´m waiting to be surprised...
