That's great, if you're expecting Miracle on Ice, but we're talking about a playoff series. Detroit is the better team at even strength. The only way Edmonton would stand a chance is if Detroit is just too undisciplined, and they give Edmonton the opportunity to let their PP carry the way. Unlikely.

You're reaching. Tootoo isn't going to lose a playoff series on his own.
It's pretty simple: Edmonton just isn't good enough at even strength. With the PP they had, and a PK that had them in the top half of the league, they were still one of the worst teams in the league. Until Edmonton can win games at even strength, they aren't going to win a playoff series. If they can't do it during the regular season, what hope do they have in the playoffs when games get tougher, more defense-oriented, and there are fewer penalties?
Edmonton has a good future, but they aren't there yet, and the team they have just isn't built for playoff hockey. It's more the anti-playoff team right now.
Another Oiler fan overrating his team and prospects what do you know You have zero defense or goalie. Which means you aren't even close to being a playoff team not to mention going 7 games deep with Detroit. Get this crap out of here
Not saying Edmonton would win, but anything can happen.
Note: voted Detroit
Oilers had a more experienced team back then. Pronger, Smyth, Rolo was running hot throughout the playoffs. Edmonton simply doesn't have that now, and wouldn't stand a chance.
Edmonton is going to be a huge contender in the future. Currently? For as bad as everybody seems to think Detroit's defense is, Edmonton's is far worse. Not to mention Detroit has a good goalie, offensive depth, and experience.
