Official: IIHF will only review Lipon's dirty hit, not Camara's clean hit

Good call by the IIHF. Lipon is gonna get some games though - rightfully so.

GOOD. That he was ejected was laughable in the first place.

players of the game for me were Ouellette, Reilly, and Strome. I did not think our first line was the difference today, I thought it was the supporting cast

Subban's getting too much flak, imo. I think he played above average today, only giving up 1 goal that I think he shoulda had. I think he's the right choice moving forward, he seems to have an "x factor" about him that BinnNasty doesn't (imo of course).

Word. I had the same 3 in the top tier, with Drouin, Scheifele, and Danault being in the next tier down.

He seemed shaky all around, was spitting rebounds like they are going out of style, and it looked like he was having issues tracking the puck. I've seen nothing from him so far that gives me confidence that he will not have a Canadian style WJC bed ******** in a big game against a better opponent.

I'm not impressed with Team Canada through four games so far and I believe the blame lands squarely on the shoulders of Steve Spott. He's simply not a good coach.

TC is simply a leaderless bunch right now. If they win the gold, it will be by their immense talent alone.

I posted this in another thread but a really interesting article about Canadian fans flipping on their stance towards flopping when it comes to their own boys:

Spott's decision making is questionable as well. It's bad enough that Murphy is playing a very prominent role on this team when he clearly does not deserve it and it's also very troubling that Hockey Canada left Frankie Corrado off of the team in favour of Murphy.

Nepotism at its finest. Spott will never advance through to professional coaching.

Glad he has such recovery powers.
Shouldnt expect much less from euro players (the laying on the ice like they are dead, only to not even miss a shift).

Please see 2002 and Pat Quinn / Curtis Joseph as a comparison with Steve Spott / Ryan Murphy. Quinn started Curtis Joseph in the first game of the tournament, a player whom he was very loyal to, and when he realized that Joseph was not going to provide Gold Medal level goaltending, he was quickly given a spot on the bench.

Spott is not capable of making those kinds of tough calls.

Aren't you the guy that said Corrado had no chance at making the team, and HC would definitely take Ceci before him? Regardless, I agree with you about the decision making, even outside of the Corrado cut. Spott just refuses to make any adjustments based on how things progress. I can't recall ever watching a less adaptive coach.

Also, not saying anything new here, but your Leafs have something special in Rielly. He'll be a stud in the NHL within 2-3 years. Wish Spott would play him more.

An article that uses a handful of twitter comments as a evidence to support the focus of the article is considering interesting reading nowadays? Journalism really has gone to the *****

They learn well from their European Soccer brothers. It is embarrassing at times and some things will never change. I am glad Canada did not let the two calls affect them, and bounced back to take it to the Slovaks. Hope this continues going forward.

Don't agree with Spott being the coach either. Despite the team winning by convincing scores thus far IMO they've played less than inspiring hockey.

There is no penalty for sending a player off the ice on a stretcher. Keep your head up- you learn that when you're 10-12.

Indeed, I was. However, Ryan Murphy was a bubble player in camp and judging by their play in camp + exhibition games, Frankie Corrado would have done a hell of a lot more for Team Canada than Ryan Murphy.

It's just very disappointing. Canada has assembled one of their best teams, personnel wise, in years, and the weak link is a coach that is showing clear signs of nepotism and shoddy decision making.
