Not sure how that hit is a charge. Clean hit by NA rules, borderline hit in the IIHF, depending on whether the ref feels the point of contact was the head. 5 minutes is excessive either way, at most should've been two.

Cue the IIHF wants Canada to win comments. If that's true the right call was made IMO.

Sucks the kid got hurt, hopefully he's ok.

It'll be interesting to see if the IIHF comments on Camara's quote indicating the the ref told him the hit was clean.

Lipon's play was stupid, should probably get a game at most. Camara's I felt was clean but maybe not under IIHF rules. I hope the Slovak kid is OK, he needs to keep his head up.

Clearly the IIHF just wants Canada to win.

Might as well gift them the gold.

Under the IIHF rules, you can't give 2 mins for that play if there's an injury.

Just like high-sticking, if there's blood you can't call only 2mins, you have to call 2+2 or 2+10.

So the ref had a choice between nothing and 5+game.

Based on the numerous threds/posts last season, NHL refs aren't that good either.

Camara hit was clean, no penalty or suspension.

Lipon hit was not clean, one game suspension.

Did anyone else find it funny how the Slovakia trainers were treating the injured player like a rag doll. They were randomly holding him up, shaking him around, on the stretcher he wasn't secure and his head was flopping all over the place..

Stefan Noesen is not playing this tournament for jumping and hitting a guy in the head.

OHL refereeing is a joke?

So.... make no hit at all? Come in and stop and try to get the puck free. That is the play you would hope for and expect from whatever team you cheer for?

You really expect any player, Canadian or otherwise to not take the body on that play and simply play the puck?

This can easily end up with the puck getting past him and by not taking the body leaving the Luza free to skate past. Camara out of position and the Slovaks going the other way one man up?

I really cannot see anyone supporting this approach to a forecheck, especially trailing in a game...

Anyone else who does not like the hit share this sentiment or have another idea of how this play should be executed properly + "cleanly" ? I genuinely want to know

btw...if I was wanted to reply like a you and generalize an entire nation like you did, I could say Luza should deny his nature and the nature of Slovakian hockey and keep his head up and be able to take a hit like a big boy...see how that sounds?

I don't support Canada, or Slovakia, but that was a clean hit. The guy had the puck, wasn't paying attention and then he got rocked.

LOL. Absolutely. The IIHF referees have always been a joke. The Slovakia game today proves it. I liked how Canada did not get rattled today and took it to the Slovaks to win 6-3. Hope they continue this momentum to the next two games.

I agree, the refs shouldn't have fallen for the multiple dives by Canadian players..

People keep saying he didn't make contact his head. Watch the video. This is physics here, kids. If he didn't make contact with the head, his inertia would bring his head forward at impact and then would snap back as he fell. Instead, you just see his head go straight back. Camara's shoulder goes right into his face.

Well given that his head is attached to his body, and his entire body ran into a brick wall I'm assuming at some point it hit something.

Don't JFK it. The guy got nailed clean.
