WJC: Roster Talk '13 — Slovakia

Yeah, same with Marek Tvrdoň. Basically our two most taented 1993s. As if we didn´t have enough issues with depth already.

But Martin Reway who suffered a concussion not so long ago, will be okay for the camp.

I guess the preliminary roster will be announced after the U20 teams´ last game in the league, which is to be played on Thursday.

Huge loss in Tvrdoň and Gernát. I'm not sure how they will make up for that.

93 are very bad. Slovakia has many players in Slovakia lige. Offcourse , i say about 94. Dano play KHL and we have Orange projekt yet. But is not good , i think. This year play-off is utopia.
But next year will by better.

Nice first post. I agree they do not seem very strong and the injuries to Gernat and Tvrdon will hurt alot.

On the other hand, considering the group that they´re playing in, it could be said that having a really good team this year would be a waste...

Sucks that Gernat and Tvrdon are out. That's going to hurt Slovakia big time. They still have Ceresnak, Dano and Reway, but it's all depth players outside of that.

Actually, the opponent's (and ours as well) goaltending could cause huge problem for us.

Germans have Cüpper and from what I saw, Melvin Nyffeler from Swiss team looked very good as well. Plus when I take into account that we really miss pure scorer (maybe Mikúš or Daňo), I'm afraid that this tournament will hurt.

I don't trust in Adam Nagy and Romančík seems to be injured as he was not even dressed in last three matches of HK Orange 20 (do not know what about today, though). If I were in Bokroš' shoes I wouldn't be afraid of giving an opportunity to Mikoláš. He's in great shape right now.

Yeah, losing Tvrdon really hurts the offense. The guy's a great player.

I expect that too, but I wouldn't say he's very good. Very streaky goalie, especially when you looked at his numbers in U20 league last year (and numbers of misconducts ).

But it seems to me we are along the Germany the weakest team at this tournament. It will be very tough.

I wouldn't worry too much about Marvin Cuppers. I don't think he'll be able to do anything so special that Germany will be tougher to beat than Slovakia, Latvia or Switzerland.

I say this with the background that naturally, a tournament is a beast of its own, and there will be days where a player or players perform well above or below expectations.

Upsets and streaks are always possible.

Well who would you prefer? 94 age group might be a little bit stronger from what I'm hearing but no standouts other than Dano who was already invited. 93s had Gernat and Tvrdon who are injured and 95s look promising but are too young. Might as well go with the older more experianced team and hope their physical maturity and experiance can be the difference to avoiding relegation. Can some nice guy post eliteprospects links for the players? Thanks

Lunter, Valjent/Predajniansky, Horanský, maybe Gríger.

I little bit don't get why Bagin is in, as well as Lamper, Uhrík and Fujerík is questionable to me. Bruno Mráz had a great start but as the time went on he downgraded and in the last matches of Orange he was totally invisible (if he even played...)

No big surprise. Little one - no Vasko and Dolnik. Lunter is injured. Nemcek and Duben out - it was expected. Is Nemcek really so bad player despite he is second year in the senior team, anybody knows?. Duben and Predajniansky deserved invitation to camp, level of our defence without Gernat will be very questionable.
Goalie Sabol could be used against USA.

Koys has a weak season in Q. He has time. But im surprised, they count with Richard Sabol. His last game was on 27.10.2012. After 3 goals from 8 shots he was called to the bench.
