The teams ranked ahead of them might have less talent, but a lot more players closer to the NHL.
Still that doesn´t hold water. Tyutin and Kondratiev would be locks on the big club. Jessiman would also play next year if there is one. I've done enough talking about Lundqvist on this board. But he could step in right away in the NHL, as good a goalie prospect as it is out there.

I couldn't define it better myself. The draft preview still kicks ass though.

I had the same reaction. There's some wacky stuff in it. I'd look at it a little more closely but I'm too busy watching for the NHL season that THN promised me.

Pleasssseeee!

Montoya had a great WJC but also had a top notch college career up until that point followed by a subpar year this season but let's not get carried away.

Let's not forget the way little Ricky had to go through some really rough stretches during his 1st few yrs of development and focus on your own prospects or lack there of.

Ditto for me. I would have him 7th. If Parise had more size, people would be filling bathtubs with their own drool. What does a guy have to do more to earn a top-7 ranking? I don't get that.

Well, I think he's a very good prospect.

I'm just pointing out that this isn't exclusively Pierre McGuire. A lot of people really like Parise.

*shrug* It just seems like he's the only prospect you ever talk about. I'm sure thats an exaggeration, but it sure seems like it I'd rate Ovy, Lehtonin, Malkin, Phaneuf, Barker, Semin, and Zheredev ahead of him. I'm not sure that Zheredev is still really a prospect but he's still on a lot of lists.

Are you talking about me? I talk about a lot of prospects. At least I think so.

I find your list pretty weird. We're talking about Parise being ranked 7th on this list. You are naming many guys who are ahead of Parise on the list, as well as players who are not elligible for the list.

All this to say, I just don't think one would have to be in love with the dude. You can probably make a case for a couple of guys at that point on the list. I just don't think Parise is a huge stretch. Myself, that's where I would put him. I could see how someone would beg to differ, though.

Oh I'm not saying he's a huge stretch, but I'd put him at 10 or 11. I was giving my top 7 list, thats why I listed those names. My brain is tired this morning, its snowing, I'm at work and I have a huge window thats showing me how the parking lot is filling up with snow.

Yes, in most variety stores, at least in Canada...unless you of course have a subscription.

Another top 50 list, only for top minor league prospects. Players who have played in the NHL don't count... I think. Since t is a public list. Here is the top ten, I am too lazy to type it all out.

1.) Lehtonen
2.) Kronwall
3.) Sutter
4.) Toivonen
5.) Parise
6.) Fleury
7.) Grebeshkov
8.) Miller
9.) Colaiacovo
10.) Vanek

Well it does happen to be the most important tournament for that age group. It also happens to be the latest big tournament they've played in. And lastly it also happens to be the stage where they are competing against all the best players from their age group from across the world.

So if it the latest, greatest and biggest test of them, shouldn't their performance in such a tournament be more heavily weighted than their regular seasons performance for their club team? I would say so.

Some guys step it up in pressure situations and in do or die situations. The World Juniors helps show which players do that. And NHL teams want players who make a difference in the crunch time.

I have no idea why you think it shouldn't be the most heavily weighted recent performance for most of these guys.

The problem with these rankings is that they only rank the organizations top 10 prospects against other teams top 10's. The Rangers have a depth advantage and that doesn't necessarily translate as well in these rankings because they aren't considering guys 11-20 (at least as far as I understand it). These rankings are heavily influenced by having multiple blue chip prospects.

People who I think are too high or shouldn't be on the list

8. Getzlaf - too high

13. Shea Weber - too high

18. Corey Perry - too high

23. Mike Richards - shouldn't be on the list

33. Carlo Colaiacovo - shouldn't be on the list

40. Cam Ward - shouldn't be on the list

44. Jiri Hudler - shouldn't be on the list

there is more but I'm too tired to type more.
