Roller hockey bearing cleaning

I have heard variety of ways to clean bearing. MY had is a hydraulic vechicle engineer and mechanic. I remember him soaking them and flush in gasoline and then soak motor oil then spin the bearing. He says this is the best way to clean any type of bearing. Is it actually true people swear up and down by different things. I see this citrus cleaners.

I think all that is overkill for skate bearings which are exposed and will get gunked up relatively quickly after cleaning. I just use 91% rubbing alcohol, drop in some Bones Speed Cream oil and done. This unit makes it a whole lot easier to clean.
