Would you be ok with a 48-50 game season?

If we do, will the cup champs this year be true champs with a shortened season?

Not ideal but at least the Stanley cup would be awarded. I have no problem recognizing Jersey as the 95 champs.

Unless you don't consider any Cup winner before 1947 legitimate... Yes.

But perhaps I should stick to a better answer, whether or not they will be true champs will depend on how I feel about the particular team that wins it.

I'm not 'ok' with it, but it's better than nothing so voted yes.

There is nothing more in the world that I would want than to see an NHL game right now. Yes.

I'm voting no, simply because I don't expect the CBA to be very well thought out if we were to have a half year of games.

I'd rather wipeout the season and make a solid 8+ year CBA that all sides can agree to.

I guess the problem is I'm assuming the players and owners could sit down like civilized gentlemen and make a favorable deal for all parties.

Yes I would. 48-50 games is better than none.

I don't view the Devils cup from 1995 as tainted at all. I would feel the same way for whoever won it this year.

Yes, because the regular season has absolutely nothing to do with the Stanley Cup, so a shortened season neither diminishes or contributes to the Cup.

That being said, I've already decided that I'm not giving the NHL any money for at least one year after the lockout ends (UNLESS I visit my brother in Durham, NC, then I would almost assuredly go to a Canes game just to see a game in a place I haven't been to), so ending it in January, 2013 merely pushes up my monetary return (not just watching TV) to January, 2014 at the earliest.

I'd be fine with it, half a season is better than no season for me. As for the "legitimacy" of the cup, the playoffs won't be shortened, so it's no less legit for me.

Okay with it? I'd be freaking ecstatic if we get a 48-game season. I'm a hockey fan and I want to see NHL hockey!

I love how the poll question is completely different from the question in the OP.

Was thinking the same exact thing when I opened it up

I think the general population will agree that a shortened season is better than no season..

Kind of like, a mediocre booty call is better than no booty call. I just went there.

Hell yeah.

With a 48 game season, the integrity is still there.

It is enough games to see who belongs in the playoffs and who doesn't. Then the playoff format won't be any different, so yes, the champions will still be true champions.

Hell yeah I'm fine with a 50 game season, better than losing a whole season and not having hockey until next season.

Who wouldn't be?

I don't think that you will find many people on here who are against a shortened season; I mean, the OP is asking this question to people who are posting on a NHL/hockey board - during a lockout.
