League is 'apparently' offering 63 million.

The good thing is that if they have another set-back, there's no more wiggle room. Which means no more mindless CBA updates. The next step would be to cancel the season.

Pretty effective strategy from Fehr. Dig into a position and stall until the league caves and then just whine that they aren't being reasonable the entire time.

My F5 button has been really worn out these past 2 months or so. With all of this lockout stuff and the Blue Jays off-season moves.

Of course neither side is talking at the moment as they are in meetings and speaking out could derail things. Just because they are not speaking out (which is perfectly reasonable) is no reason to say it does not look promising.

Is this the same meeting that was going on earlier today or did they break into separate groups and then get together again?

No, they were in the same room earlier today (I watched a couple of live reports on Sportsnet talking about this). So what I am wondering is if this is that same meeting (ie. it has been going on for 3-4 hours now) or if they met, split into their own groups, and then got together again.

We've heard that "we're close to a deal" too many times already.
The issues that are really pressing are division of revenues (and all the accounting interstices that go along with that), contract rights (and all the accounting interstices that go along with that), pensions (and all the accounting interstices that go along with that), and many other minute issues that surround the league.

I agree. We have heard it too many times. So why should we all believe it this time when we've heard it from these same "insiders" all too many times before?

The issue is that for the PA, it's never been about "what do we need to make this work", but more about "let's see how much more we can squeeze out of the owners" before Fehr finally agrees to an offer (on the last day of the deadline).

I have no doubt that NHL has a very detailed plan on how the figures they're arguing over will affect their business. They're fairly well aware how how each concession will effect the bottom line.

And so does Fehr.

Problem is you are only looking at this from one side of the table and lacking empathy from the other side.

Donald Fehr has been through this exact same dispute with the MLB on multiple occasions and knows exactly what he is doing and how to do math and accounting.

If he thought there was a deal to make on behalf of his constituency, he would have done it by now.

If Bettman thought there was a deal to make on behalf of his constituency, he would have done it by now.

The problem is that the owners know they are billionaires and that the players are millionaires and that is the only wind they have left in their sail.

If the players (all of them, not just the millionaires, but the short-term contracts too) continue to vote to disclaim, this indicates there is no discord in union resolve.

The media are taking you guys on a ride. They're making things sound closer than they are. They want you to keep tuning into coverage of analysts talking about nothing.

I turn the channel watching guys on the streets on New York talking about the same things OVER AND OVER.

They want us to keep tuning in. It's like they're dangling a carrot infront of us with some "Positive News". Truth is, both sides have a lot of issues to work out.

Nick Kyrpeos is a joke. Anyone follow his tweets? He guaranteed us last month hockey would star right before Christmas.

Sportsnet claims the two sides sitting in a room is "BREAKING NEWS". Give me a break!

Only 7 days left until it is done.

Unless the union disclaims then it will be done quicker.
