He'll probably be sitting in the press box or like Xokkeu said the bench, Jon Gillies is the backup to Gibson.
Can't be on the bench if Gillies is the backup. Either he meant that he gets to watch the game in the stadium or Gillies got hurt and is now the back up.
USA - Canada rivalry is not media created on our end at least. It doesn't have too much to do with the one goal games either.
Familiarity and proximity make this more of a rivalry than what it should be. The fact that so many people think it is as big or equal to Canada vs Russia tells you it is not results based. A 9-2 winning record over the past 10 years is all you have to know. It has grown largely due to the nature of those 2 losses. Most Canadians look at those 2 as gold medal losses that Canada let get away and it hurts their fragile hockey superiority ego far more than losing to Russia, a more worthy traditional rival, does. USA has done well to earn its spot among the top 7 nations, but it isn't close to usurping Russia as our primary rival.
Right now it is primarily a border rivalry, much like Sweden vs Finland. Every once in a while Finland wins and Sweden gets really pissed off.
If the Smurfs get split, and the 2 resulting lines show some creativity, I think the USA can win. They kind of ran out of gas in the last 15 minutes against Russia. The day off will help a lot.
Subban has been bad, freezing on some shots that should have been routine stops instead of goals. Lots of pressure on him tonight, and I hope he does well.
This game is an annual highlight of the sporting calendar for me.

I know it wasn't your intention but you have no idea how much this post makes me wanna win 26-0 tonight
I have no idea how this is going to go. I don't think Canada is nearly as good defensively or in goal as Russia but at the same time they seem much more dangerous offensively. I wouldn't be surprised to see either team blown out to be honest.

Ha ha. We aren't Japan and you aren't Sweden.
US speed neutralizes some of the talent disparity between the nations, but Canada is a deeper team. I still expect a close game. I hope both teams play their best games. As good as Gibson can be, I just can't see Canada's offense not scoring at least 2 or 3 goals. So if you win, it will be because you have found more offense than you showed against Russia.
Hoping for a big win from the USA and Galchenyuk tearing it up.
I'd love to see him and Gaudreau swap spots. Barber and Kuraly were great against Germany, but that was due to Germany being such a weak team. Their flaws as a line were completely masked. Against Russia, they were completely exposed. If Housley wants a win, he needs to start taking his best players and putting them onto one line. And by God, if they are down a goal in the 3rd, do NOT roll four lines.

I should damn well hope so. Even with Prime Hasek in net 1 goal don't cut it most nights
I just wanna hang. If we lose, we lose. Like yesterday. We played a close game and lost to a damn good team. But getting embarrassed just keeps us on that next tier below as opposed to a top tier hockey country.
