As much as i'm enjoying watching Slovakia, I'd really love to see Germany take this one... There's just something about this team that I love. Sure, they may not be the best team, but the heart and soul these kids have going into these games is fantastic. Of course they know they're most likely not going to go "far" in the tournament due to the powerhouse teams (Canada, Russia, USA, Sweden, Finland).. but that doesn't stop them from giving their all. True dedication to the game, and I for one love to see it.
That, and Draisaitl is super-entertaining to watch!! Seems so weird to see a possible top-5 player come from a country that isn't one of the big-5. How is the kid not tired? The whole time i've been watching the game, I think there's been maybe 10 minutes I didn't see him..
The ideal scenario I'd like to see would be Germany getting their first win today in OT, and Slovakia still getting a point. Which means tomorrow any type of win against the States would get them into the medal round I think.
Cupper has been excellent, he definitely deserves a win for his part!
Relegation aside, I hope that Germany wins this one. They've trucked all tournament and faced adversity that would have crushed morale, as their opponents have not been kind.
Great play by Germany there. That PP was looking terrible until that pass by Draisaitl. It's a same that most likely will not compete in this tournament next year because they have two great 17 year olds in Kahun and Draisaitl.
Though Germany and Latvia are not even on the same level was teams like Slovakia or Switzerland. They provide a greater opposition than Poland or Norway. I would like to see Germany and Latvia given an opportunity to compete in the top division next year but with the current format that's not possible.

what?
This is typical Slovak performance against teams weaker on paper, it´s the kind of games that hurt your eyes to watch...

It's really hard to cheer against either of these teams.
