Will Stamkos Score 70?

Simple question, although I gave a few options in the poll.

He's still incredibly young, but may see a decrease in production when St. Louis moves on.

I think he's still got room to improve considering his age and can hit 70 in the next few years.

No but I bet he gets to 60 once more, maybe 61 or 62.

Yea, he only has a good 2-3 years to do so while he still has St.Louis playing at his best and i don't think St.Louis' playmaking abilities can be replaced.

I'd say Ovechkin has the best chance to hit 70goals in the future of anyone in the nhl, and I don't know if I see him touching 65goals in his future. So I'd say no. Stamkos likely will hit 60goals again, maybe 65goals once, but not 70.

I can see him hitting 60 again maybe once or twice but not 70.

He had a staggering 19% shooting, he will be troubled to hit 60 again, let alone 70.

Can't see it happening, he'll be a consistent 50-60 goal scorer though.

Depends on what the rules are like coming back. If we see another PP-driven league like in 05/06 I could see him doing it, but if it stays the same as it was before the lockout, I don't think he hits 60 again.

Yes he will. The league operates in cycles and it will become a more offensive league again before his career is over.

Barring a major change in equipment/style/pace/whatever, no. Can't see more than 65. I think he'll be hard pressed to score 60 again, too.

He might hit 60 one or two more times... not 70

Note that the guys with 300+ shots in this top 22 (Cheechoo and Heatley) shot at 17.7% and 16.7% respectively. Stamkos seems some kind of major outlier shooting 303 shots at a whopping 19.8%. Sure, maybe he's a better goal scorer than everyone since the lockout...but that's a significantly better shooting percentage we are talking about here... and the real kicker? He's not even close to 70 goals unless he increases that shooting percentage to 23% as per table 1, or somehow manages to get way more shots off of equal quality.

Now here is, since the lockout, the people with the highest amount of shots with the highest shooting percentages highlighted:

It seems highly unlikely that any of the possibilities under the first table occur given the numbers in tables 2 (showing the highest shooting percentage ever with over 200 shots was only 1% above what he shot last year and came on just 207 shots versus his 303 shots) and 3 (showing highest amount of shots and their corresponding shooting percentages).

Stamkos is outstanding: but he ain't hitting 70.
